The Nissan Patrol Y62 sells huge volumes in the UAE, despite technically being over a decade old. However, the time for handing over the torch to the all-new Patrol has arrived.
The Y63 Patrol would have been years in the making as Nissan pulled out all the stops ensuring it didn’t place a step wrong. All that planning culminated in the 2025 Nissan Patrol making its global debut on September 4, 2024, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It was unveiled by none other than the President and CEO of Nissan, Makoto Uchida.
The all-new 2025 Nissan Patrol boasts a plethora of advances made on almost every front: Comfort, performance, technology, and features. As recognizable and timeless as the beautiful desert dunes of the region, the Nissan Patrol is here to stay.
Exterior
It is a massive hunk of metal, there is no getting away from that. Following the blueprint laid down by its predecessor, the all-new Y63 Patrol remains a showcase of brute size and imposing presence. Driving this SUV down any road anywhere will not go unnoticed – another trait the Nissan Patrol is popular for.
The 2025 Nissan Patrol comes in at 5,350 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,955 mm in height. For comparison, the old Patrol measured 5,315 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,940 mm in height. It might be bigger by almost every parameter, but the wheelbase remains unchanged – it still measures 3,075 mm between the axles.
Nissan's signature V-Motion grille sits tall and proud at the front, featuring two thin bars spanning the whole width. There is a thicker bar adorning the top of the grille, connecting the two headlights rather nicely. The vertical headlights are massive and sport a unique LED DRL design consisting of dual C-shaped elements.
The front bumper looks relatively simple and neat, merging effortlessly into the front fascia of the 2025 Patrol. This city-friendly bumper gets LED fog lights with C-shaped trim as adornments, while the off-road-focused variants score a more robust design. The new Patrol looks even bigger when viewed in profile, which is partially due to its bump in dimensions.
The other reason for the visually larger profile is down to the extended overhangs. Since the wheelbase has been unaltered, the extra millimetres have been gained by stretching the body even further beyond the wheels. This means the approach angle has gone down from 35 degrees to 32 degrees and the departure angle is down from 26 degrees to 25.5 degrees.
Getting back to the design, there are faux vents located above the flared front fenders. The muscular rear fenders also look nice, while the all-new Patrol can be fitted with 22-inch wheels. Despite that, the wheel wells have plenty of clearing, which should allow decent articulation and suspension travel.
The dual-tone paint scheme offered with the all-new Patrol masks some of its visual heft, while the rear pillars now feature a ‘Patrol’ badge. Just in case it wasn’t obvious yet. The two-tone exterior also lends an illusion of a floating roof, though the roofline itself is as straight as it gets.
The boxy and flat rear of the all-new Nissan Patrol features a roof-mounted spoiler, the now-ubiquitous full-width LED bar, and handsome LED tail lights. These get the same C-shaped LED running lights as the headlights. The rear bumper gets beefy plastic cladding with static reflectors and a pintle hook in the middle.
Interior
The interior of the old Patrol was a nice and comfortable place to spend time in. With the all-new Patrol, Nissan has upped the ante and made the cabin even more luxurious, with beautiful craftsmanship to boot. The sense of space and airiness is palpable, while the massive centre console with deep cubbies is easily above waist level.
The ‘Zero Gravity’ seats are upholstered in wonderful quilted leather and available in three colours, while there’s no dearth of metal trim and soft-touch materials. The huge panoramic glass roof lets in loads of light, with the cleverly integrated 64-color mood lighting handling the rest. The second row boasts tons of room, and the third row is usable as well.
Those seated up front can marvel at the new 28.6-inch Monolith Display. This comprises twin 14.3-inch HD panels that include the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Second-row passengers get dual 12.8-inch entertainment displays and their climate control panel, though all rows get adjustable AC vents.
The tri-zone automatic climate control in the all-new Patrol is really advanced. It features infrared sensors that read the body temperature of the occupants and adjust the settings accordingly for optimal cooling. The leather-wrapped steering wheel looks premium and comes with capacitive buttons and paddle shifters, while a 12-speaker premium audio system by Klipsch provides an immersive surround-sound experience.
While the main touchscreen controls many of the car’s functions and features, Nissan has thankfully included many physical buttons as well. These take the form of rocker switches, rotary dials, and push buttons – the latter is even used to manipulate the transmission. The power-operated third-row seats can be controlled from the touchscreen, which too has a few physical buttons.
The quality here is impeccable for what is still a mass-produced Nissan SUV – take that as you might. The boxy design and power-folding seats give way to a large cargo space, with the hands-free tailgate making loading and unloading quite easy. For extra convenience and practicality, the Patrol’s boot gets a luggage shelf, cargo nets, and a portable cargo organizer.
Adding on to the convenience are features like massaging seats with cooling & heating functions, a large head-up display, wireless charging, 6 USB & 3 12V sockets, an electrically-adjustable steering wheel, a cool box, and the Nissan Connected app. The infotainment suite of the all-new Patrol features the new MyNissan app as well as built-in Google services.
Engine and performance
One of the biggest changes with the 2025 Nissan Patrol has happened under the hood. The beloved 5.6-litre naturally-aspirated eight-cylinder is no more, replaced by a 3.5-litre six-cylinder. However, this is no ordinary six-cylinder – it is a twin-turbocharged V6 with 425 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Even the base 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated V6 makes 316 hp and 386 Nm.
The old 7-speed gearbox has also been replaced by a new 9-speed transmission, which should improve efficiency and performance. The all-new Nissan Patrol gets six drive/terrain modes: Standard, Eco, Sport, Rock, Mud, and Sand. The famed Hydraulic Body Motion Control system is gone, replaced instead by advanced electrically-controlled shock absorbers and height-adjustable air suspension.
Of course, the 2025 Nissan Patrol gets a full-time four-wheel drive system as standard across variants. The claimed fuel consumption of the Patrol 3.8 V6 is 9.7 kmpl (10.3 L/100 km) and that of the Patrol 3.5 twin-turbo is 10.1 kmpl (9.9 L/100 km). Meanwhile, the fuel tank capacity of the all-new Nissan Patrol Y63 is 97 liters.

Safety
Keeping up with the mechanical upgrades of the new Patrol is a raft of safety features. One of the first is called ‘Invisible Hood View’. The system uses a forward-facing camera and intelligent processing to create a virtual view of the path right in front of and under the vehicle in real time.
It can also help prevent the wheels from hitting the curb or avoiding obstacles when traversing challenging terrain. The ‘3D Around View Monitor’, ‘Ultra Wide View’, and ‘Rear Zoom View’ are also a boon, helping manoeuvre or park the big SUV with relative ease in congested spaces. The camera resolution and rendering quality are good, too.
The all-new Patrol gets a laser range finder that scans the road ahead, predicting impending collisions and issuing visual and aural warnings. Forward and rear auto-emergency braking are available, with the former including pedestrian detection. Other safety nannies are lane-departure prevention, lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, blind-spot intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, and driver attention alert.
The 2025 Nissan Patrol also ropes in seven airbags, adaptive headlights, and an electronic parking brake with automatic brake hold. The MyNissan App allows owners to remotely operate various systems (door locks, engine ignition, climate control etc.). The app includes geofencing services & emergency calls for added security, while also displaying major malfunctions and pre-set curfew breaches.
Conclusion
Despite ditching the venerable N/A V8, the all-new 2025 Nissan Patrol is all set to be a big hit in the UAE. Nissan has understandably increased the new Patrol prices – it now costs from AED 239,900 to AED 379,900 (incl. VAT). The new Patrol can seat up to 8 occupants, making it ideal for many customers.
The stature of the Patrol is such that it will take a lot more than a V6 powerplant and a higher price tag to shake off interested customers. The new Nissan Patrol comes packing an extensive list of equipment and technical improvements while boasting a comfortable cabin with quality materials and interesting features.
