Nissan Magnite Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
After its confirmed launch in Saudi Arabia, Nissan is all set to introduce its most affordable and smallest SUV in the UAE car market, the Magnite. Manufactured and exported to other countries from India, the new Nissan Magnite will sit below the Kicks as the most affordable Nissan SUV in the UAE. It is speculated that the Nissan Magnite will be offered in multiple variants with a single turbo-petrol-CVT powertrain combination.
Measuring under four metres in length, the Nissan Magnite has a width of 1,758 mm and a height of 1,572 mm, making it a strong contender in the sub-compact SUV category which has begun to garner much popularity among entry-level car buyers in the UAE. The facelifted version of the Nissan Magnite was launched in India in October 2024 with minimal exterior and interior updates, and it is this facelifted version that will also be launched in the UAE.
At the front, the Nissan Magnite facelift now gets a bolder-looking fascia, which is inspired by larger, more premium Nissan SUVs. The bold grille is flanked by revised LED headlamps, which are accompanied by L-shaped daytime running LEDs on the corners of the front bumper. The scuff plate in the middle comes integrated with LED fog lamps in its corners. With smooth contours over the rounded wheel arches, the Nissan Magnite has 16-inch machined alloy wheels in the top-spec variant. This sub-compact SUV also gets revised LED inserts in its combination tail lamps.
Nissan has also updated the cabin of the Magnite in this facelifted version, which now gets a more vibrant-looking black and orange leather upholstery in its top-spec variant. Despite it being an entry-level offering, Nissan has equipped the Magnite decently with modern features like a 7-inch full-TFT instrument console with modern graphics and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gloss black surrounds.
The hexagonal-shaped AC vents and soft-touch leather finish in the middle layer of the dashboard make the cabin look more premium and youthful. This entry-level SUV from Nissan further gets more modern features like automatic climate control, engine push start-stop button, ambient lighting, cooled glove box, air purifier, and a wireless charging pad.
In India, the Nissan Magnite is being offered with both 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines. However, the UAE-spec version of the Magnite will solely be offered with the latter of the two – the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. A CVT will be available as the standard transmission for this engine option, which claims a maximum power output of 100 PS and a maximum torque output of 160 Nm. This powertrain is also offered with a 6-speed manual transmission in India, which might not make its way in the UAE-spec version.
With the launch of Magnite in the UAE, Nissan is eyeing to capture a large share in the entry-level car segment, which was dominated by hatchbacks, but is now gradually shifting towards the sub-compact SUVs like Toyota Raize, Kia Sonet, and Chevrolet Groove. It will compete with premium hatchbacks like the Toyota Yaris and Suzuki Baleno.
