Hire a driver in Dubai for AED 40 per hour
Driver on rent initiative to kick start in Dubai by the end of this month. It was revealed by a senior official of Dubai Transport Corporation (DTC) at the GITEX show in Dubai held on Sunday. The residents of Dubai can now rent a driver for AED 40 per hour by using the free and official app of DTC. The driver on rent is a part of the Dubai Roads and Transport program. The minimum charge set for renting a personal driver is AED 80 for two hours.
The CEO of the DTC, Dr. Al Ali said that the app users get an option to request for a male or a female driver. The users can also request for a driver who speaks in a particular language, can choose from Arabic, English, Hindi and Urdu. He added that it’s a useful feature added in the app, especially for the ones who are tired to drive by themselves or for the ones whose driver is on leave.
Additionally, the app offers limousine on-demand service wherein the users can request for a standard limo, an electric limo, a family limo or a limousine for ladies only. Dr Al Ali mentioned, “We are more cost-effective than others as our limos and the technology we use is our own assets. There is no commission [that is passed on as an additional cost to the customer>. We also have promo codes for discounts and special rates for frequent users.”
A Virtual NOL card was also introduced at the GITEX show that can be used for various public services like paying for public transport and shopping at public outlets and refuelling at stations. Residents need to buy a virtual NOL card, save in their phones, top-up it and enable NFC service to pay for many services like tram, metro, bus and marine.
The Director of Automated Fare Collection at RTA’s Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, Mohammad Al Khayat said that the authorities are planning to make the virtual NOL card mainstream by September 2020 and soon all the functions of the NOL card will be added to the virtual NOL card.
