A mid-size SUV from the Chinese automaker Dongfeng, the AX7 is set to become the flagship SUV for the brand in the UAE car market. Scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2025, the Dongfeng AX7 has a length of 4690 mm, a width of 1850 mm, and a height of 1727 mm.
In all the colour options in which it will be available, the Dongfeng comes standard with contrast red accents all around, which make the SUV look sporty. At the front, the AX7 has a bold hexagonal grille with blacked-out inserts, which it flanked by large trapezoidal headlamps with LED projectors and LED DRLs attached to the upper edges of the grille.
The side profile of the Dongfeng AX7 has prominent haunches over the front and rear wheel arches, which also get side mouldings over them along with those on the lower part of door panels. The standard variant of the AX7 will come with 18-inch alloy wheels. The LED combination tail lamps also have a clear lens design effect with zig-zag-themed LED inserts.
The contrast red highlights are in the cabin of the Dongfeng AX7 as well, with the SUV having an all-black theme for the interior, with the red accents and contrast stitching giving it a sporty feel. The dashboard has an asymmetric design with gloss black highlights and a studded design in its middle layer. The upper layer of the dashboard and lower centre console of the cabin have wraparound designs, complemented with gloss black and silver accents.
The flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel of the Dongfeng AX7 has a 7-inch full-TFT instrument console behind it, while the centre console has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The buttons of the automatic climate control, premium-looking transmission lever, electronic parking brake and engine push start-stop button are placed in the lower centre console. The AX7 also gets premium features like a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered driver’s seat.
The Dongfeng AX7 will solely be available with the combination of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This petrol engine claims 190 bhp of maximum power and 300 Nm of maximum torque and is complemented by Macpherson struts at the front and a double wishbone at the rear for suspension.
The new Dongfeng AX7 is expected to arrive in the UAE car market with three colour options – Grey, White with black roof, and Black, and will compete with other mid-size SUVs like Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda HR-V, Nissan X-Trail, Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage and Peugeot 3008.
