DONGFENG Shine

A midsize sedan from the Chinese automaker Dongfeng, the Shine is essentially a rebadged version of the Aeolus Shine which is officially sold in the Chinese car market. The Dongfeng Shine measures 4670 mm long, 1812 mm wide, and 1490 mm tall while having a wheelbase of 2680 mm.

The front profile of the Dongfeng Shine looks bold with the gloss black-themed grille, which has a thin strip of transparent LED DRL above it and angular headlamps with LED projectors, LED DRLs, and turn indicators placed on its upper edges. The front bumper has sporty-looking air curtains on the corners, which have T-shaped gloss black inserts in them. 

The Dongfeng Shine has a slightly coupe-like roofline with a sloping roof while having a dynamic design with a sharp crease flowing through the door panels. The Shine has 17-inch machined alloy wheels as standard, while also having a spoiler mounted above its boot lid. The sedan also has trapezoidal LED combination tail lamps with LED inserts that combine with the LED-connected light bar flowing across the boot lid. 

The sportiness of the Dongfeng Shine is evident in the cabin too, with it having a dual-tone black and yellow theme and contrast yellow stitching for the seats and door panels. The flat-bottom, round-themed two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel of the Dongfeng Shine has a 7-inch TFT screen for the instrument console behind it. The centre console is dominated by a large 13-inch portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment system, which is placed angularly in the middle.

The controls for the 6-speaker audio system and automatic climate control are given in the touchscreen infotainment system. The other trendy features that are offered in the Dongfeng Shine include a wireless charger, 6-way powered driver’s seat, 4-way powered front co-passengers seat, sunroof, air purifier, leather upholstery and a full suite of Level-2 ADAS. 

Powering the Dongfeng Shine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 188 bhp of maximum power and 300 Nm of maximum torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this engine allows the Shine to have a top speed of 200 kmph and a fuel efficiency of 20.2 kmpl. The Shine is also available with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine in China, which though might be skipped for the UAE. 

There are five colour options in which the Dongfeng Shine is available in China – Red, White, Grey, Black and Grey with black roof, all of which might be offered in the UAE too. Given its positioning as a mid-size SUV, the Dongfeng Shine will go against sedans like Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic, and Toyota Corolla.
