XPeng G6, G9, and P7i EVs previewed at 2024 Bangkok Motor Show
ABU DHABI: Xpeng entered the ASEAN market with the debut of the G6, G9, and P7i EVs at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand. Following its debut in Thailand, Xpeng will launch its electric vehicles in other ASEAN countries. In the upcoming months, Xpeng is planning to come up with its electric vehicles in Malaysia through a partnership with Bermaz Auto and in Singapore through a collaboration with Premium Automobiles.

At the Bangkok International Motor Show, Xpeng showcased its G6 along with other electric vehicles, including a flying car, an SUV, and a sedan. Nothing has been disclosed about the availability of these variants in ASEAN markets.
The Xpeng G9 shares SEPA 2.0 platform with the G6. The notable difference between both these variants is that G9 has larger dimensions - 1,937 mm width, 4,891 mm length, 1,680 mm height, and a 2,998 mm wheelbase. It is available in five different variants in China and is priced between 263,900 to 359,900 yuan, including 570 Max and 570 Pro models equipped with a 78.4-kWh battery offering a range of around 570 km.
These models feature a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive producing 313 PS and 430 Nm torque and take 6.4 seconds to achieve 0-100 kmph.
The P7i, the P7 sedan’s refreshed version, offers improved power, updated styling, and range, and an upgraded sensor suite. Introduced in 2023 in China, it comes in '550', '702' and '610' variants, priced from 223,900 to 339,900 yuan. The 702 Max Wing Edition is the latest variant with front scissor doors. It comes with an 86.2 kWh battery and a 400V architecture and offers up to 702 km of range.
Xpeng's debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show underscores its aim to meet the growing demand for EVs in the ASEAN market. Despite being the key player in the EV sector of China, the international presence of Xpeng was limited as it focused on its home market. However, with appearances at auto exhibitions and strategic expansions, Xpeng aims to expand its outreach beyond China and cater to a wider audience.
