Suzuki Jimny sees the light of the day; debuts at Auto Expo 2023

Suzuki Jimny is one of the most anticipated cars in the Indian market. Finally, at the Auto Expo 2023, the Japanese manufacturer released the 5-door version of the rugged SUV. In most markets, Jimny's fourth generation is available in the two-door version, which left fans wanting more.

There have been rumors that a larger five-door version is in the works at Suzuki. All of which is now put to rest.

The 2023 version of Jimny is built on a ladder frame with more cabin space. There are no significant changes in terms of styling except it is longer, with overall dimensions reading - 3985 mm long, 1645 mm wide, and 1720 mm tall. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, it is still a four-seater with better comfort.

It's business as usual for the off-roader inside. Apart from the obviously larger cabin and additional rear legroom, everything else is the same. The dashboard's appearance and layout remain unchanged. A 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an Arkamys-developed four-speaker audio setup, take care of the entertainment needs.

Powering the 5-door Jimny is a 1.5-litre K15B engine with 104 hp of maximum power and a peak torque of 134 Nm. A four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual are the available choices of transmission. A 4x4 drivetrain is an obvious add-on to this off-roader.

It's the same story underneath the car. The SUV rides on 15-inch wheels with slim 195/80 R15 tyres. The car's suspension system consists of three-link live axles with coil springs for the front and rear, and disc brakes and drum brakes are employed to stop it.

The 2023 Jimny is also expected to be introduced in Latin America, Africa, and Australia in the coming months.
