Currently in its second-generation version, the Nio EC6 is a modern all-electric SUV coupe, which was globally launched in 2023 and is set to arrive in the UAE car market in the first half of 2024. Made exclusively in China, the new Nio EC6 will be available in the UAE in a single Standard variant with a 100kWh battery pack.
In other markets, the Nio EC6 is being offered in AR Lavendar, Mars Red, Southern Star, Stratosphere Blue, Deep Black, and Cloud White. The UAE-spec model is expected to be on sale in these colours.
Like other modern SUV coupes, the Nio EC6 has a visually dramatic roofline that slopes down towards the rear. It also has sculpted surfaces and muscular broad shoulders. The front profile of the EC6 has a clean and minimalist design, with a double-dash LED DRL running across the width of the front fascia. The front bumper has vertically aligned LED projector headlamps with gloss black surrounds.
The window frames on the side profile have satin chrome surrounds, with the same garnish also available for the mounts of the rearview mirrors. The top of the front windscreen and front fenders come mounted with radars and cameras for ADAS and other functionalities. With flush-type door handles and 18-inch machined alloy wheels, the Nio EC6 also has a dual-active mode spoiler for an additional 58 kg downforce and sleek LED combination tail lamps with LED connected light bar at the back.
The cabin of the Nio EC6 is being offered with four different themes – Onyx Black, Stream Blue, Red Loam, and Stellar Violet, though it is not confirmed which one of these will be provided in the UAE-spec model. The cabin design is a work of art with two full-TFT screens for the rectangular instrument console behind the multi-functional steering wheel and a large portrait-styled 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The cabin of the Nio EC6 feels more advanced and tech-laden with the presence of innovative features like a 9.3-inch coloured head-up display, NOMI in-car voice-operated AI companion talking robot, 6.6-inch rear HDR control display and ventilation, heating and massage functions for the front and rear seats. The Nio EC6 also gets a huge panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, 256-colour waterfall ambient lighting and a 23-speaker audio system with Dolby Atmos surround sound.
The UAE car market is supposed to get the Nio ECV6 in a single variant, which will come with a dual-motor setup – a front-mounted 150kW motor and a rear-mounted 210kW motor putting up 480 bhp and 700 Nm. Claiming 4.4 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run, the Nio EC6 also has a 100kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 550 km (NEDC-certified).
With sporty five-link front and rear suspension accompanied by an intelligent chassis controller and continuous damping controller, the Nio EC6 also has up to nine driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Custom, Sand, Snow, Wet, and Trailer. The Nio EC6 will be competing with a wide range of Chinese premium compact electric SUVs, once it launches in the UAE.
