Nissan Sylphy now gets EV version, drivetrain taken from Leaf

ABU DHABI: The Nissan Sylphy seems to be breathing a new lease of life as an electric vehicle. The Japanese company is said to have taken the drivetrain mechanism from the popular Leaf and placed it within the Sylphy, thus giving birth to their first-ever all-electric sedan.

The new Nissan Sylphy is called the Sylphy Zero Emission by the company and is a huge step towards a wider acceptance of Nissan electric sedans. Having said that, a lot of the specifications haven’t been revealed. However, the company still claims that the zero-emission version of the sedan could do around 338 kilometers on a single charge.

Being the electric version of the standard sedan, the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission would be similar in terms of the design and interior layout. This can be confirmed by the fact that the company said the space within the cabin has not been compromised to accommodate the battery as they have been placed under the seats. Although no images of the interior have been revealed, it could be a replica of the standard Sylphy. Same for the front console, which would have readings for the battery feedbacks.

As far as the exterior designing is concerned, the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission is a blend of the standard facelifted model and the Leaf. At the front, there is the same V-Motion clear blue grille as seen on the Leaf. Moreover, the plug location is also same as the hatchback. However, some of the traits differentiate it from the standard Sylphy, which are the redesigned bumper and blue highlighting at both ends. Added to this, even the wheels are taken from the hatchback iteration, making the EV different than the standard sedan.

So, summarising the Nissan Sylphy Zero Emission, we can say that it borrows the same interior cabin as the standard sedan. However, when it comes to the exterior, not many things are similar as the Leaf influences a lot of its aesthetic traits. That said, chances of this EV sedan being launched in the Middle East is very rare as the company is more focused on the Chinese market.
