Nissan GT-R production to cease this year

ABU DHABI: Nissan has decided to cease production of the R35 GT-R after 17 years specifically for the North American market in October. To commemorate its departure, the automaker unveiled special Takumi and Skyline Edition models. Nissan has not disclosed its plans for GT-R production beyond October in other markets. However, there is anticipation that the GT-R's production lifespan may be limited.

    The GT-R in its factory configuration was propelled by a powerful 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbocharged gasoline engine. This engine generated around 570 horsepower. It was mated with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, known for its seamless power delivery and swift gear changes, contributing to an enjoyable driving experience.

    Based on the "Premium" model the Skyline Edition features a blue interior and Bayside Blue paint and its starting price is $132,985 (AED 488,460.55). The Takumi Edition has been derived from the 2024 GT-R T-Spec. It boasts Midnight Purple paint, gold RAYS forged wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, and special badging that honors master craftsmen. It is priced at $152,985 (AED 561,921.55).

    Nissan said that while the R35 GT-R has left a lasting legacy the automaker is now focusing on innovative performance and future advancements. The iconic Nissan GT-R may not be replaced directly. In October 2023, Nissan gave a glimpse of the Hyper Force electric concept as a preview of the next-generation GT-R equipped with an all-electric drivetrain. There are chances that it will arrive by the end of this decade.
