Lincoln Continental pays homage to its vintage edition on 80th anniversary
ABU DHABI: It’s the 80th anniversary of the Lincoln Continental. And the company celebrates it in style by launching the Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition. The special edition is a homage to the vintage avatar that first made its appearance way back in 1961. For unawares, the coach doors are also known as ‘suicide doors’.
The 80th Anniversary special Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition gets a plethora of features, including a Revel Ultima audio system, an Active Noise Control feature, and the 30-way Perfect Position front seats. Additionally, the wheelbase has been increased by 6 inches, which makes it even roomier for the occupants seated in the back seat.
Based on the Black Label trim, the Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition will be offered in two exclusive interior themes, Thoroughbred and Chalet, with dual-tone upholstery and vibrant color options.
The first-ever Lincoln Continental was produced in 1939, which was a custom-made luxury offering built for Edsel Ford. Lincoln became an iconic car brand in 1961 when the fourth-gen Continental with coach doors was launched. It had a chrome shoulder line and rear-hinged rear doors that became the brand’s trademark thereafter. Later, the Continental served as a presidential limousine, which was redesigned as per the requirements, from the early 60s to 1977.
The company has decided to produce only 80 units of the Lincoln Continental Coach Door Edition. So, if you are a fan and don’t want to miss the opportunity to buy this classical beauty, then all you have to do is visit and order the car through a certified Black Label-grade Lincoln car dealership. Look out for nearby outlets and make the move.
The Continental Coach Door Edition will offer perks like complimentary car washes, vehicle detailing (annually), free pickup and delivery for vehicle’s maintenance during the warranty period, and access to selective restaurants. All the perks are similar to the ones on offer with the Black Label models.
As far as pricing is concerned, no word is out yet. But expect it to be higher than the Black Label models and anywhere around $100,000 (AED 367300).
