2018 Audi A8 launched in Dubai at AED 357,000

ABU DHABI: Speak about grand luxury cars and you will find Audi right among the top makers. Some of the cars in the lineup have been doing continuously well since their inception and the A8 is not an exception to it. First introduced back in 1994, the Audi A8 has been one of the top cars in the range and continues to be so even after 24 years down the line.

The fourth generation of the Audi A8 has now been launched at Dubai’s Al Habtoor Polo & Resort in a bigger and much better avatar. The German company chose a very unique time and location to celebrate the launch of the luxury car. The event began before dawn at around 3:30 AM at a secluded location right in the middle of the Margham desert.

The 2018 Audi A8 bears a good bit of resemblance to the previous model. We do know that Audi ain’t getting rid of the large hexagonal grille with horizontal slats so soon. Being slightly bigger in dimensions, the luxury saloon looks premium at the first onset. It is built on air suspension along with adaptive damping, which has a different bite for different drive modes.

The interior of the A8 is no less than a tech-fest for all the occupants. The two-tier dashboard looks uncluttered. Almost everything that you touch in the cabin is stitched with fine leather. The luxuriousness is exuded by the presence of two removable tablet screens at the rear, Matrix LED reading and ambient lights. The tech bits also includes a massager at the rear deck, which works like a spa inbuilt inside the car.

The Audi A8 is powered by a re-engineered V6, 3.0-litre turbocharged engine which is good enough to churn out a maximum power of 340 PS along with a peak torque of 500 Nm. Another new addition is the Level 3 autonomous driving, which means it can handle the steering, accelerator, and brakes, but of course, with human assistance.

The standard Audi A8 has been priced starting from AED 357,000 while the longer wheelbase variant starts from AED 380,100. However, it is to be noted that the new A8 is slightly more affordable than its other German counterparts.
