Volkswagen T-Roc

The Volkswagen T-Roc was never meant to be a style icon and the 2024 version continues with the same philosophy. The cabin is simply laid and the dashboard gets clear lines across. The fabric upholstery gets a black and dark grey trim. The materials are of good quality, but lower down and at the back, scratchy plastics hamper the overall look and feel of the cabin. Ambient lighting comes as standard, adding a little more character to the interior. The dashboard gets a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit instrument cluster with Volkswagen's Active Info Display, and an 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, The central console has a reduced number of buttons. It looks simple and is easy to operate. The air-conditioning controls are consolidated to a touch-sensitive slider which is a bit tricky to move. The car comes with 445 litres of cargo space that's among the biggest in class. The car gets two central cupholders, large door bins, and a nice space in the central console to keep smartphones while charging.

The 2024 T-Roc shares the wide, low grille that's found on other Volkswagen cars like the latest Tiguan and the Golf facelift. But the Volkswagen T-Roc retains its own identity within the German manufacturer's range. Like all midsized Volkswagen cars, the T-Roc is mounted on the company's own Modularer Querbaukasten (MQB) platform or the modular transversal toolkit. The curving roofline and the sloping down C-pillar marks the T-Roc as a second-era crossover. The twin-box body is somewhat expressive. Headlights are located directly adjacent to the grille. A chrome strip stretches from the A-pillar's base to the bottom of the C-pillar. The car runs on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin of the 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc is decently spacious with the two front seats enjoying the maximum headroom and legroom. The driving position adjusts from gently perched up to distinctly raised and bent-legged. The wide windscreen offers a nice view of the road ahead. The back seat of the 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc is a bit tight compared to most of its rivals. Legroom is rather limited and the knees often dig into the back of the front seats. Headroom is quite good though, even for adults. The middle seat on the rear row can accommodate a passenger only for a short journey. The seat isn't suitable for carrying three adults. The T-Roc is strictly a four-passenger car. But the seats get nice padding and back support. The air-conditioner cools the cabin fast.

The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc is hauled by a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 1.4-liter petrol engine that produces 148 PS/250 Nm. The motor is mated to an 8-speed automatic. The steering is light and turning corners is easy with the T-Roc. The car's compact size helps in merging city traffic. Cruising on highways is composed. 

The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc comes with automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and a driver alert system. Other features include electronic parking brake with auto hold, six airbags, fuel-saving engine stop-start, tyre pressure monitoring, heated mirrors, rear disc brakes and sensor-based driver aids. The car is pretty well packed with driver-assist tech and safety equipment. 

The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc is priced higher than most of its rivals. While the handling is good, travelling comfort isn't the best in class. The T-Roc comes with a lot of equipment and is a nice daily commuting car. It also performs well on highways. It's a crossover that depends heavily on its on-road ability, at the cost of practicality, space, and road presence. The 2024 Volkswagen T-Roc is a nice car for small families.
