Mitsubishi Xforce Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
Mitsubishi is all set to expand its SUV lineup in the UAE car market by introducing the XForce compact SUV. Designed specifically for the emerging markets of Asia, South America, and Africa, the new Mitsubishi XForce is based on the XFC concept, which the Japanese carmaker showcased at the 2022 Vietnam Motor Show.
The production version of the Mitsubishi XForce debuted at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, with Mitsubishi’s manufacturing facility in Indonesia chosen as the mother plant. The new Mitsubishi XForce is expected to be launched in the UAE with two variants—Premium and High Line—and four probable colour choices: Energetic Yellow, Quartz White, Graphite Grey, and Blade Silver.
Available primarily as a front-wheel-drive compact SUV, the Mitsubishi XForce measures 4,390mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,660mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,650mm and a ground clearance of 193mm. Retaining much of the design cues of Mitsubishi's XFC Concept, the XForce has a sharp and aggressive design language.
The signature T-shaped headlamps, which include main LED headlamps and LED DRLs over them, of the Mitsubishi XForce are accompanied by a trapezoidal grille in the middle. The X-Force comes with colour-coded front and rear skid plates, with the front ones having LED fog lamps integrated on their sides. The XForce has well-contoured front and rear fenders, while also having body cladding all around and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear profile of this Mitsubishi compact SUV has T-shaped LED tail lamps and a clean design for the powered tailgate.
In other markets, the Mitsubishi XForce has a dual-tone grey and beige theme for the interior, with the compact SUV having white melange fabric with soft padding for the dashboard and door panels. The UAE-spec version is also expected to get the same treatment for the cabin.
On the inside, the Mitsubishi XForce is decently equipped with modern features like an 8-inch full-TFT instrument console and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Both these screens are part of a trapezoidal cockpit, which gets a gloss black finish and a scooped housing for the instrument console.
The compact SUV is also equipped with other practical features like ambient lighting, leather upholstery, air purifier, 8-step reclining rear seats, wireless charger, cooled centre console box, seat under trays and more. The safety features on offer include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation system, automatic high beam, blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert.
Based on the same platform as the Mitsubishi Xpander MPV, the new X-Force has a single engine option – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. To be available with a CVT gearbox as standard, this petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 105 PS and a maximum torque output of 141 Nm. The Xpander is also available with four drive modes – Normal, Wet, Gravel and Mud.
Once launched, the new Mitsubishi XForce is likely to replace the ageing ASX compact SUV in the Japanese carmaker’s UAE lineup, and will serve as its most affordable and smallest SUV on sale.
