Jetour T1 Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
The Jetour T1 is a new compact lifestyle SUV from the Chinese automaker Jetour, which has been positioned below the T2. Like the bigger T2, the new Jetour T1 is also a plug-in hybrid SUV, making it one of the smallest SUVs, and possibly one of the most affordable plug-in hybrid SUVs, to go on sale in the UAE. The official images of the T1 are already out, with the UAE car market expecting to get this SUV by the second quarter of 2025.
Like the Jetour T2, the T2 has an upright stance with squared-off elements, including the block-shaped headlamp clusters, which feature LED projectors with dual bar-shaped LED DRLs around them. More LED lights are placed across the width of the rectangular grille between the headlamps. The Jetour T1 has off-road-spec front bumpers, which integrate rounded LED fog lamps within their outer corners.
The boxy and traditional stance of the Jetour T1 is further enhanced by the straight contours over the front bonnet, flared wheel arches, and door-mounted rearview mirrors. While the T1 misses out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel and hidden outside door handles of the T2, it does come with traditional pullback-type door handles and a more modern design for the tailgate. At the back, the Jetour T1 has block-themed tail lamps which mimic the design of the front headlamps with similar-looking LED inserts.
Measuring 4,706 mm long, 1,967 mm wi,de and 1,845 mm tall, the Jetour T1 has a wheelbase of 2,810 mm, with an approach angle of 27 degrees and a departure angle of 25 degrees. In the Chinese car market, the Jetour T1 has been showcased with a dual-tone black and light green theme for its cabin, which is expected to remain unchanged for the UAE-spec model too. The dashboard design of the Jetour T1 looks interesting with twin vertical slats for the AC vents on the corners and horizontal design for the slim AC vents in the lower centre console.
The presence of the 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console and a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system make the cabin of the Jetour t1 look rich in modern tech. The lower centre console here also gets a crystal-themed transmission lever, cup holders and a wireless charger. Expect the Jetour T1 to be offered with premium features like a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats and a premium audio system, just like the China-spec version.
The Jetour T1 is confirmed to get a plug-in hybrid system comprising a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine claiming 154 bhp and 220 Nm, two electric motors, and a 26.7kWh lithium-ion battery. The T2 claims an electric-only range of 117 km, while having an impressive fuel efficiency of 1.08 litres/100 km, making it one of the most economical-to-own SUVs in the long run.
Once it goes on sale in the UAE, the Jetour T1 will compete with other premium compact SUVs like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Corolla Cross, MG HS, Suzuki Grand Vitara and Citroen C3 Aircross.
