Haval H6 GT

The cabin of the 2024 Haval H6 GT is spacious for its size. The car comes with Comfort-Tek leatherette seats and upholstery. The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel controls all the multimedia functions. Hard plastics have been extensively used in the cabin to keep production costs under control. The dashboard is dominated by a 10.25-touchscreen infotainment system, connected to a multi-speaker audio system. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. But both are wired and the connection port is inconveniently located on the passenger’s side, near the floor. Another 10.25-inch screen displays the driver-information. The cabin gets a number of storage options that include a spacious floating central console bin with an extra shelf, key holder foldable cupholders, wireless charge pad, glovebox, and a sunglass compartment. All doors get large bottle holders. The central console gets a rotary gear selector that's a bit finicky and not very responsive. The coupe-style has eaten into the boot space. The 2024 Haval H6 GT has a 392-litre boot. The handsfree, powered tailgate is easy to operate. 

The 2024 Haval H6 GT has a rather striking design and stands out of the pack with a sleek coupe-like styling. The exterior design of course isn't revolutionary.  The design of most Chinese cars is heavily borrowed from European and American vehicles and the 2024 Haval H6 GT is no different. The sloping roofline, side skirts, and dual spoilers make the H6 GT look like a high-end luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the lines of BMW X4 or the Porsche Cayenne. The front is dominated by a rather aggressive-looking grille. The Haval logo adorns the top part of the grille. There's a faux carbon-fibre panel. The car gets all-around LED lighting. The headlights are smart and sleek. The car runs on 19-inch wheels with Michelin tyres. On the side, wheel arches get a black cladding. The rear-part is less dramatic. The bright-yellow brake callipers complete the look.

The soft suspension system of the 2024 Haval H6 GT is adept in absorbing most of the road imperfections making the car comfortable for daily driving. The two front seats are comfortably spacious. Even with its compact cabin, taller passengers won't find it uncomfortable on the rear seat. But the 2024 Haval H6 GT is more of a four-passenger car. The sloping roof does eat into the headroom on the rear seat. Still, there's a lot of legroom. The seats are nice and cushioned with supportive backrest.  

The 2024 Haval H6 GT is equipped with a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 208 PS/325 Nm. The motor is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch. It's the same powertrain that hauls the Haval H6 SUV. But while the H6 GT looks aggressive, its performance isn't particularly exhilarating. It delivers a rather quiet and smooth ride. The car is easily manoeuvrable in urban traffic with its compact size. There's some noticeable body roll. The multiple ride modes allow the driver to adapt the car according to the terrain. The steering is light and nicely balanced.

The 2024 Haval H6 GT comes with a lot of safety equipment that includes seven airbags, surround-view camera, intelligent cruise assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. It's one of the best safe-tech-equipped cars in its segment.

At a starting price of AED 104,900, the 2024 Haval H6 GT is among the most attractive cars in its segment. It's competitively priced and will appeal to buyers on a budget, looking for a sporty SUV.
