Unparalleled Charging Speed and Range

The ES90 introduces Volvo’s 800V architecture, a significant leap forward in EV technology. This system allows the car to charge faster while improving overall performance and efficiency.

  • Charges up to 300 km in just 10 minutes at 350 kW fast-charging stations.
  • Delivers a driving range of up to 700 km on a single charge under the WLTP cycle.
  • Improved energy efficiency with a state-of-the-art battery management system.

This means less time spent at charging stations and more time on the road, making long-distance travel more convenient than ever.

Advanced Battery and Powertrain Technology

The ES90’s powertrain is designed for optimal efficiency. Its new in-house battery management software ensures a more reliable charging experience, cutting charging time from 10% to 80% by up to 30%, reducing it to just 20 minutes.

Volvo has incorporated adaptive charging software from Breathe Battery Technologies, a company it invested in through the Volvo Cars Tech Fund. This partnership has enabled the ES90 to achieve smarter, more efficient charging cycles.

Sustainability at Its Core

Volvo continues to push towards sustainability, and the ES90 is a testament to this commitment. The car features a high percentage of recycled and natural materials to reduce environmental impact:

  • 29% of aluminum and 18% of steel used in production is recycled.
  • 16% of the car’s polymers come from recycled or bio-based sources.
  • Interior wood panels are sourced from FSC-certified materials.

Additionally, Volvo introduces a battery passport for the ES90, using blockchain technology to track raw material origins, ensuring responsible sourcing of lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite. This passport also provides transparency on the full battery pack’s CO2 footprint.

Performance and Driving Experience

The ES90 is engineered to deliver a premium driving experience while maintaining its efficiency. Thanks to its lightweight e-motors and optimized electric system, it offers improved acceleration and handling. The vehicle’s balanced design ensures smooth rides with enhanced stability, making it ideal for long journeys.

“Our 800V technology marks another significant technological upgrade for our customers as we move towards full electrification,” says Anders Bell, Volvo’s Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. “It makes our electric cars even more efficient, helps you charge your electric Volvo faster and go further on a single charge.”
