Nissan Maxima - All you need to know

Globally, the Nissan Maxima has been present since early 1980 and is available for eight generations. The current model of the "4-Door Sports Car" is launched in May 2019. It is a perfect mixture of power and elegance and is built upon Nissan’s D platform. The car is one of the best flagship sedans in the UAE, which is doing well for several years.

The power is sent to the wheels via an XTronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). It takes less than 6.5 seconds to speed up from 0 to 100 kmph. It can hit a maximum speed of 210 kmph. 

Speaking of Maxima’s XTronic CVT, it is perfectly designed and is able to satisfy the die-hard enthusiasts as well. The next-gen transmission comes with wider gear ratio coverage, and adaptive shift controller and dynamic step shifting. These altogether provide a spirited and connected driving experience. 

There is a drive mode selector as well. If one opts for the Sport driving mode, the steering feel,  transmission tuning and throttle response will be sharpened for a pulse-raising ride. Due to the Active Sound Enhancement, the engine note became more powerful.

Exterior

The sedan is equipped with the stylish headlamps connected to the unique DRLs. with LED technology. There is a large grille with a black finish and chrome trim and fog lamps, which appears with attractive blacked-out triangular housings. At the back, there are LED taillamps that have thick chrome trim. Also, it features quad exhaust outlets too. The car comes with 18-inch machine-finished aluminum-alloy wheels. Interior

The Nissan Maxima gets a seven-inch colour display, that provides information like safety alerts and turn-by-turn directions. Furthermore, the car comes with a lot of other features including climate-controlled front seats, remote engine start system with intelligent climate control, dual-zone automatic temperature control, zero-gravity front seats with 3d bolsters, active noise cancellation, active sound enhancement, acoustic laminated glass, etc.

The SR1 and SR2 variants of the car provides a premium feel to the cabin that has quilted inserts. It is made of premium leather-appointed Alcantara, which is generally featured in the high-end performance cars.

Maxima SR's premium interior features dynamic diamond-quilted inserts, made from premium Italian-made Alcantara – a material usually reserved for high-end performance cars. Only available for SR grades. Also, there are column-mounted paddle shifters.

Safety

The SR versions of Maxima gets an exclusive Integrated Dynamics-control Module that includes the likes of Intelligent Intelligent Engine Brake, Active Ride Control, and Trace Control. These help to offer a daily performance derived performance. Furthermore, the Nissan Maxima comes with the brand’s own advanced air-bag system, ABS, Brake Assist or EBD, vehicle dynamic control and traction control system, zone body construction, easy-fill tire alert, etc.

Intelligent Trace Control - It helps to monitor the handling when it is needed. Braking can be done in each wheel individually so that it helps to steer the car smoothly to the corners.

Intelligent Engine Brake  - At the time of stoping or cornering the vehicle, Nissan uses Intelligent Engine Brake to make it in a smoother way. It generally uses the next-gent Xtronic CVT so that the engine braking will be applied.

Active Ride Control - The sedan features Active Ride Control that smooths out the ride by automatically applying brakes and adjusting the engine when needed. 

Nissan Intelligent Mobility - The sedan features Nissan Intelligent Mobility that includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Nissan Maxima Competitors

If the discussion is going on for the top rivals of Nissan Maxima, one can easily take the name of Toyota Camry. It comes with a price tag in between AED 91,000 and AED 124,500. It is available in four different variants S, SE, SE+ and Sport. While there is a Hybrid variant also.

The S and SE come with a 2.5-litre four-pot engine (178 hp/230.5 Nm). On the other, the SE+ and Sport have a 3.5-litre V6 engine (298 hp/356 Nm). So, It is clear that the Toyota Camry is less powerful than the Nissan Maxima, though the price is also less. It also gives a tough competition to the likes of Honda Accord and Kia Cadenza.

Though the crossover/SUVs are bossing here in the UAE, the sedans have played a crucial part in the country’s automobile industry.
