New Toyota Land Cruiser- Rumours and speculations

ABU DHABI: The next-gen Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most awaited models to launch from the upcoming fleet of Toyota vehicles. There have been quite a few speculations, but none seem to be true. While some sources say that its production has been held up, the others reveal that everything is on track.

Some reports surfacing the internet reveal that the SUV’s production has been stopped due to a last-minute change in its design. What this implies is that the debut of SUV might face a delay. Later we heard that the company is planning to launch the model with minor design changes.

Some sources even said that the flagship Toyota SUV is on its way with everything running according to the schedule plan. A few Japanese websites have published news stating that the debut of new Land Cruiser will take place in the second half of 2020. The concept version of the same will be on display at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show later this year.

If this is to be believed, then it is possible that Toyota has decided to continue with the originally-developed design or production didn’t stop due to minor design corrections. Everything seems to be a possibility at this moment of time.

Talking about the SUV and considering it to follow the current design language, the next-gen Toyota Land Cruiser would feature a big front grille, large air intakes, and sharper character lines.

Under the hood, the flagship SUV will be offered with V6 3.5-litre twin-turbo engine that can also be seen on the Lexus LS, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission system. A hybrid version with turbocharger could also be on offer. Nothing is evident though. Also, an official word about the diesel V8 is yet to be known. Safety-wise, the updated Land Cruiser will come with pedestrian collision detection avoidance and night-vision feature.

The Lexus LX is also being produced alongside the Land Cruiser. As per the reports, the new LX will be an entirely new model with revamped exteriors and interiors. This is to make it different and more luxurious than its sibling, Land Cruiser.

At this moment, Toyota is tight-lipped and we are unaware of the proceedings in their camp regarding both the SUVs. We’ll have to wait until an official statement is out citing the progress of the two. Stay tuned with us for more stories like this.
