Mitsubishi Lancer EX: Features explained
Mitsubishi Lancer EX has been a part of the Japanese firm's product range for many years now. And there must be some solid reasons that it still has its name in the portfolio. Though a bit outdated, the Lancer is a handsome-looking sedan. It has a charm of its own which is appreciated by many car enthusiasts. So, what does this sedan has to offer in today’s market? Let’s get to know about that in this story by discussing some of its key features.
Exterior features
Front design
The front end of the Mitsubishi Lancer EX is attractive in its own way. The headlamps have got this tapered design which makes the car look a bit angry about something. Also, the neat front grille and the radiator setup on the bumper enhances this angry and sporty look. To add a bit of premium-ness, Mitsubishi has included a set of LED daytime running lights on the front bumper. The good thing about them is that they aren’t just placed randomly anywhere on the car’s face but have been appropriately designed and located. The C-shape pattern of these LED DRLs suits the car’s front appearance perfectly.
Side profile
The Lancer EX has got a very appealing side profile. Perhaps, this is mainly because the front end sets a bit lower than the rear. This means that the nose of the car is down and aggressive thus making the entire car very sporty.
The side profile of the Lancer is also enhanced by the gorgeous set of alloy wheels. Depending on the variant, you either have 18-inch or 16-inch wheels. Mitsubishi has also added chrome belt-line mouldings to give the Lancer a more plush and premium look. Also, the sharp character line that starts just ahead of the front door and reaches the tail lights via the door handles is brilliantly done.
Rear design
Perhaps, we all would agree that the most striking element at the rear end of the Mitsubishi Lancer EX is the spoiler. It is a head turner. And for those people who think it is just placed for aesthetics, well, it’s not. It’s there for a purpose, and it serves the same very well. It is aesthetically pleasing, and that’s the secondary, or you can say an added advantage.
Also, the tail lights have got an old-school feeling to them. This might be a turn off for a lot of people, but we think it should be looked as a USP because it helps the car to stand out of the usual LED lights of modern cars.
Interior features
As per the Mitsubishi Lancer EX specs sheet, the interior lacks some features that you’d find in the same segment car. However, surprisingly, it is still a pleasant place to be in because the black theme suits the character of the car perfectly. It is comfortable yet sporty. Clearly, it’s a driver’s car. The dashboard is ergonomically designed while keeping the driver in mind. Also, the three-spoke steering wheel is quite sporty as well. It comes with mounted controls for audio and cruise functions. And the best part, Mitsubishi has also included magnesium paddle shifters. They act as the cherry on the cake.
Other interesting features include a day and night inner rear view mirror, keyless entry with central locking, 2-DIN touch display audio that supports AM/FM and CD, adjustable driver seat, 60:40 rear seat split configuration, etc. You can also opt for a Lancer Grand Package that will provide you with navigation, premium leather seats, Bluetooth, and reverse camera with a sensor.
Engine and performance
There are three variants (GLX, GLS, GT) of the Lancer EX available for purchase and all of them are powered by the same engine. It is a 2.0-litre 16 valve DOHC engine with Mitsubishi’s MIVEC technology. It produces 148 PS of power and 197 Nm of torque. It comes mated to an INVECS-III CVT transmission with 6-step sports mode. The engine is more than capable to let you enjoy an enthusiastic drive in this car.
Safety features
The Lancer EX gets ABS with EBD and brake assist. It also gets traction control, active stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, and dual front airbags, etc. We would have liked to see a few more safety features.
So, these were some of the key features of the Lancer EX. Mitsubishi UAE offers the sedan in three variants and seven different colors - Red Metallic, Silver Metallic, Black Mica, Lightning Blue Metallic, Sterling Silver, Titanium Grey Metallic, and White Solid. The Mitsubishi Lancer EX price starts at AED 51,500 for the base model and goes up to AED 66,900 for the range-topping variant.
