Kia unveils high-performance EV9 GT

ABU DHABI: Kia has unveiled the 2026 EV9 GT at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, a performance-focused version of its three-row electric SUV. 

The 2026 Kia EV9 GT boasts a dual-motor e-AWD setup, with a 270-kW motor at the rear and 160-kW motor at the front, producing 501 horsepower which is around 122 more in comparison to the EV9 GT-Line. It is the most powerful three-row SUV ever produced by Kia

The EV9 GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, showcasing its remarkable performance capabilities.

The EV features Kia's first-ever electronically controlled suspension that adjusts brake response, shock damping, and steering based on the selected drive mode. For enhanced performance, GT Mode can be activated via the GT button, optimizing suspension stiffness while maintaining comfort for everyday driving.

The 2026 Kia EV9 GT comes with a virtual gear shift system that simulates gear changes with audible sound and tactile feedback via the cabin's Active Sound Design (e-ASD). Paddle shifters offer manual control, while an electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) enhances stability. The EV9 GT also impresses with its 5,000-pound towing capacity and 7.8 inches of ground clearance. 

The Kia EV9 GT boasts sporty trims with alloy wheels, new rear and front bumpers, lime green accents inside, and Alcantara bolstered sports seats. 

It also comes with a Tesla-style North American Charging Standard port for easy access to Superchargers. It supports 800-volt fast charging and takes under 25 minutes to reach 10% to 80%. However, Kia has not yet revealed its range.

The 2026 Kia EV9 GT will most likely hit the market in 2025. Although the pricing has not been confirmed, industry speculation suggests its price will exceed $80,000 (AED 293 841.20).
