Chevrolet releases the first look of 2020 Silverado HD

ABU DHABI: Chevrolet has published an image of its upcoming heavy-duty pickup truck, 2020 Silverado HD. The pickup will be launched officially in February 2019, while it will hit the market by the mid of 2019. The pickup will be produced at the Flint Assembly Plant situated at Flint, Michigan.

Previously, Chevrolet unveiled the upgraded version of its smaller sibling, the Silverado light-duty pickup, which received a new design language. The manufacturer claims that the new pickup shares only the roof design with its smaller sibling. The side profile and rear and front fascia are unique.

The front fascia has got an eye-catching design. The major highlights of the front are the huge grille and uniquely-designed headlights. The pickup also features chromed-out front and rear bumpers, a chiselled hood, new alloy wheels, and huge tow truck-style side mirrors. The LED taillights get some modifications as well.

The vehicle comes with two engine options. The pickup derives the power from a gasoline-powered motor that is sent to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox. Though the power output is not revealed yet, it is likely to be more powerful than the existing unit. The ongoing Silverado model gets a 6-litre Vortec V8 mill that produces a maximum of 360 PS of power along with a peak torque of 515 Nm.

As far as the diesel engine option is concerned, the next-gen Silverado HD can still retain the Duramax turbo-diesel V8 engine of 6.6-litre from the outgoing model. It is capable of belting out up to 445 PS of power and a peak torque of 1,234 Nm. A ten-speed automatic gearbox handles all the transmission duties of the pickup.

The manufacturer has claimed that the payload, as well as towing capabilities, are enhanced by increasing the power output. As a part of the safety, the pickup will feature high-tech trailer aid systems.
