BMW unveils M Performance parts for G05 X5 SUV
ABU DHABI: BMW had recently unveiled the fourth generation model of the X5. The company has now announced a wide range of M Performance parts for the SUV. BMW is expected to start selling the new G05 X5 in select markets from March 2019. The M Performance parts are likely to go on sale with a similar timeline.
M Performance parts are famous for allowing customers to beef up the looks and feel of their BMW cars, which in-turn help the vehicles to stand out from the relatively larger number of regular BMW models on road. On the exteriors, the BMW X5 can be loaded with carbon-fiber parts as part of the M Performance package. These include air intake trim for the front bumper, rear winglets, diffuser on the rear bumper, ORVM caps, and side skirts. The SUV can even be equipped with a black matte finished M Performance sill.
There are also plenty of alloy wheel design options on offer, including a set of 20-inch M Star-Spoke (Style 748 M) wheels that can be wrapped with all-terrain tyres to lend the car a rugged off-road look. Meanwhile, the 22-inch M Performance Start Spoke (Style 749 M) wheels give the car a more planted look. BMW is also offering M Performance tyres up to the size of 22-inches. Braking setup can be improved by opting for M Performance brakes, which include four-piston, aluminium, red-painted front calipers are mated to vented and perforated disc brakes.
On the inside, the M Performance kit adds an M Performance steering wheel with Alcantara and carbon fiber elements. There are also gear shift pedals on the back of the steering wheel that are finished in carbon fibre as opposed to the chrome treatment seen on the regular variants of the BMW X5.
The G05 BMW X5 also gets M Performance Drive Analyser as an option, which provides comprehensive data about the SUV’s driving dynamics. It even has the capability to log and analyse data in order to understand how well the SUV and the driver are performing. The system includes an OBD (on-board diagnostic) stick that is plugged into the SUV’s OBD socket and connects to a Smartphone App through which the driver can access a wide range of information, remotely.
