Auto Expo 2020: Hyundai breaks cover of second-generation Creta
South Korean automobile major Hyundai Motor, lifted the covers off the second-generation Creta compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) at the Auto Expo 2020, currently underway at Greater Noida, India. The new Hyundai Creta, as previewed in the China-specific model, looks quite different than its existing version. The entry-level version of the outgoing model is priced at AED 62,850.
While the proportions of the new Creta do resemble its present version, the car looks entirely different from the rear and front end. The second-generation Creta has segmented boomerang LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Hyundai’s latest cascading grille, unlike the earlier three-slat design, dons the front. The car sports a light bar across the boot along with a split-taillight design. The Seoul-headquartered company has lent an overall sportier look to the car’s back.
The new-generation Hyundai Creta will be available with a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The petrol options will include a 1.5-liter and a turbocharged 1.4-liter unit. All motors will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) option for the 1.5-liter petrol unit. That aside, the diesel motor will get a 6-speed automatic transmission (AT), while the turbocharged petrol unit will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
Hyundai, expectedly, has not officially revealed the new Creta’s cabin at the event. But it will have a large touchscreen infotainment display unit and a semi-digital instrument console. The company, however, has confirmed that the next-generation Creta will have the advanced version of Hyundai’s Blue Link 1.5 connected car technology. The car already has a panoramic sunroof. Premium seat upholstery and automatic air-conditioning are also expected.
Hyundai plans to launch the new-generation Creta in March next year. The car will renew its competition with the Ford EcoSport, Chery Tiggo7, and Mitsubishi ASX in the Emirates market.
