Audi SQ2 is up for sale in Europe - Check out new images and details
ABU DHABI: The SQ2 is out in the wild months after Audi released the picture of it heading to the Paris Motor Show 2018. In the recent update, the German automaker has released a series of new SQ2 official photos. Not just this, the company has also opened the sale gates for the same in Europe.
Talking about the design, the Audi SQ2 features a vertical slat ‘singleframe’ grille, projector headlamps with hammer-styled LED DRLs, a new front air splitter, door-mounted side mirrors, a sloping roofline, and an integrated roof spoiler. At the rear, the Audi SQ2 gets quad tailpipes (two on either end), a diffuser-like bumper, and taillights that embrace the similar hammer LED pattern like the headlamps.
An optional exterior upgrade is available too, which includes a contoured rear spoiler, black accents for mean looks, Quattro door graphics, and alloys measuring 18 and 19 inches.
Inside, the Audi SQ2 gets a sporty multifunction steering wheel with an option to upgrade to flat-bottom steering. There are sports seats for ultimate comfort with an optional Nappa leather upgrade. Surprisingly, Audi has not included paddle shifters as standard on this one. You get them as an option though. The stainless steel pedals and the brushed aluminium inserts add to the interior appeal. Of which the aluminium inserts can be ditched for anodised red highlights if you wish.
On the features front, Audi has blessed it with an 8.3-inch centre console with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, MMI navigation plus system with a touch panel and a 705-W Bang & Olufsen audio system with 14 speakers.
At heart, the Audi SQ2 gets a four-cylinder, turbocharged 2.0-litre gasoline engine that pumps out 304 PS at 5,300-6,500 rpm range and 400 Nm of torque at 2,000-5,200 rpm range. The Audi SQ2 comes with a Quattro AWD system and a 7-speed S Tronic wet dual-clutch gearbox. According to Audi, the compact SUV can travel from nought to 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds. This is quicker than the Porche 718 Cayman (base model). Further, it can go up to 250 kmph, which is also marked as its top speed.
To maintain composure on the road, Audi SQ2 gets the S Sport Suspension setup, which also reduces the ride height by 20 mm. The steering wheel equipped on the SQ2 is speed-sensitive, plus the disc brakes it features are larger than usual, 340 mm at the front and 310 mm at the back.
The drive system on the car is capable of transferring the entire torque to the rear wheels if the front axle loses grip. To protect the occupants, the Audi SQ2 has the brand’s pre sense front autonomous emergency braking as standard. Additionally, there is an optional driver assistance pack that includes advanced safety features like active lane assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, traffic jam assist, and blind spot monitoring system with cross-traffic assist.
