  • The Valhalla supercar will be the firm's first PHEV, scheduled for release in 2024. From 2026 onwards, the company will introduce electrified versions of all the models within its 'core' lineup, which presently includes the DBS, DB 12, and Vantage

During the first half of the 2023 financial report, Lawrence Stroll said: "Our electrification journey will start with Valhalla, our first PHEV supercar, and we plan to expand our PHEV range into our core vehicles which will bridge the customer journey from ICE to full BEV."

The core models of the Aston Martin, the DB12, DBX, and Vantage share the Mercedes-derived V8 engine, which also underpins the hybrid systems in the Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 E-Performance models. Aston Martin will probably adopt a variation of this setup for its plug-in hybrid models. The Valhalla supercar is already using a version of this system, showcasing the commitment of the brand to embrace hybrid technology.

The twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 in the Mercedes-AMG super-hybrids is paired with an electric motor situated on the rear axle. It offers a combined output upwards of 840 hp and torque exceeding 1,400 Nm. Lithium-ion batteries have been mounted in the boot –6.1kWh in the GT 63 and 13.1kWh in the S63, enabling electric-only ranges of 13 kilometres for the GT 63 and 34 kilometres for the S63.

A few months ago, Lawrence Stroll sparked excitement amongst car enthusiasts by promising 8 new sports cars within the next 2 years. The new DB12 already debuted in May, while DBS models and the next-generation Vantage are expected to arrive within the next 15 months.
