2024 Kia Sorento gets a rugged makeover and advanced technology

ABU DHABI: The 2024 Kia Sorento made a grand debut at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. The refreshed SUV is the facelift version of the fourth-gen model which was launched back in 2020, but it looks bolder on the outside, and it gets a smarter, sleeker interior as well. It retains its fourth-gen roots but stands out with a sleeker interior design and striking exterior.

The design of the 2024 Kia Sorento is based on the "Opposites United" philosophy, drawing inspiration from the "Bold for Nature" concept. It seeks inspiration from the Telluride, incorporating a distinctive front hood and squared edges. Wider skid plates and the futuristic Star Map lighting elements give the vehicle an aggressive look.

The cabin has a cleanly integrated panoramic display with a minimalist dashboard. The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit boasts various features, such as a panel with a 12.3-inch screen and a 4.3-inch TFT display with a choice for a curved display featuring dual 12.3-inch screens.

The 2024 Kia Sorento is available in two engine options: the S and LX models, featuring a 2.5-litre I-4 GDI engine that produces 191 hp and 246 Nm of torque. It is coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The X-Pro and X-line, which are the higher trims, are available with a turbocharged version, producing approximately 281 hp and 421 Nm of torque, paired with a wet dual-clutch eight-speed transmission.

Kia also delighted its fans by announcing that it will release plug-in hybrid and hybrid variants of the Sorento next year.
