2025 MG RX9: Features explained

Barely a month since it was unveiled in the GCC, the 2025 MG RX9 has been launched in the UAE. The midsize crossover SUV, known as the Roewe RX9 in China, is one of MG Motor’s premium offerings in the region. The new MG RX9 in the UAE is available in STD 2.0 Turbo, COM 2.0 Turbo and LUX 2.0 Turbo.

The price of the 2025 MG RX9 in the Emirates is expected to be around AED 95,000 and AED 115,000. It is likely to go up against cars like the Jetour Dashing, Kia Seltos, BYD Song Plus, and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. The RX9 comes with several features that make it quite a good car. 1. Flush door handles

While this is becoming increasingly common in modern cars, flush door handles are usually the realm of expensive cars. However, the MG RX9 gets these modern-looking units, which should also aid in reducing the car’s overall drag. These forward-hinged door handles swing out upon unlocking the car, adding to the ownership experience.

2. LED exterior lights

The MG RX9 uses stylish LED units for its main headlights, turn indicators, and daytime running lights. The multi-beam LED headlights look sharp and feature a sweptback design, while the DRL’s slick vertical element doubles as a turn indicator. The 3D patterns in the dynamically-styled tail lights are apparently laser-etched, though they look nice and add to the visual sophistication.

If these felt lackluster, the MG RX9 gets dual LED strips placed next to the roof spoiler. These not only act as the car’s high-mounted stop lights, but they look quite cool as well. The rear bumper also gets LED foglights, though their visual impact is far less obvious.

Like some of its equally-adept rivals, the 2025 MG RX9 is equipped with several modern safety nannies. 5. Functionally spacious and comfortable cabin

The cabin of the 2025 MG RX9 feels suitably premium for a crossover SUV, costing around 115,000 dirhams. It can be had with a beige & brown leather interior featuring aluminium, wood and piano black accents. If that weren’t all, the RX9 can seat up to 7 occupants spread across three rows. The split-folding rear seats only upping the functionality.

Even with all three rows in place, there is enough room to carry a couple of suitcases plus a few soft bags. With the third-row down, the new MG RX9 has up to 1,026 litres of luggage space. There is up to 140 degrees of recline for the second-row seats and up to 35 degrees of recline for the last row.

The flat-ish roof means that headroom is not a bother in the MG RX9. Moreover, the light interior colours and panoramic sunroof further add to the sense of space. The hollowed-out centre console at the front provides some extra storage space, whilst the enclosed cubby and centre-armrest areas add to the practicality. The front seatbacks also feature handy storage pockets.

The driver’s seat of the MG RX9 is electrically operated with up to 8-way adjustments for a suitable driving position. The front-passenger seat can also be electrically operated with up to 4-way adjustments. As for the driver’s seat in the top LUX variant, it comes with a useful memory function. The front seats come with heating and cooling functions, too.

6. Multi-zone automatic AC

Where most of its competitors come with single-zone or dual-zone AC, the 2025 MG RX9 gets three-zone automatic climate control. This not only adds value in terms of equipment, but it brings in additional comfort for those seated in the second row. There are also two USB charging ports located here, while there are roof-mounted vents for the third-row occupants.

7. Digital and user-friendly cockpit

The 2025 MG RX9 comes with two digital displays at the front. These 12.3-inch screens include a digital driver’s display and a touchscreen infotainment system. They get fairly bright and have physical buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard to control many of their functionalities. However, their contrast levels are unimpressive – especially on a sunny day or under bright conditions.

The digital driver’s display of the MG RX9 does not have multiple display options or fancy animations. It does the job, but the chunky bezels around the two screens can be an eyesore. The 12.3-inch infotainment display is angled toward the driver and thus easier to reach. It is fairly responsive and easy to use, offering Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

The MG RX9 has a wireless charging pad at the front, along with multiple USB charging ports for better versatility. The base STD and mid COM variants come with an 8-speaker sound system, which sounds quite average but does the job. However, the top LUX variant gets a premium 12-speaker Bose system that sounds way better.

The 2025 MG RX9 can be had in either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Regardless, the engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 201 hp and 350 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The MG RX9 gets 5 driving modes: Auto, Eco, Sport, Snow, and Off-Road.

When paired with the AWD system, this makes the RX9 quite adept at handling adverse driving conditions. It still is not a competent off-roader, but the MG crossover can handle some rough patches without throwing a fuss.
