Porsche Macan Electric

The cabin of the 2024 Porsche Macan Electric is classy and tech-rich. It gets integrated ambient lighting and vegan-friendly leather-free seats. Recycled materials have been used all through the interior. The floor mats are made from regenerated nylon. The dashboard gets a three-screen configuration that comprises a curved 12.6-inch full-colour digital instrument display, a 10.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit, and an optional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. All displays are crisp and clear. The infotainment unit is connected to a 10-speaker audio system. The wide windows are tall, and there are abundant soft-touch materials spread throughout the cabin. There are physical buttons for the climate control system that are easy to operate. There's an optional carbon-fiber trim for the interior. The driving position is excellent because the driver sits closer to the ground. A number of convenient storage spaces, including cupholders and cubby holes, are spread throughout the cabin. The 540 litres of boot space can be expanded by folding down the rear seat. 

Looks-wise, the 2024 Porsche Macan Electric is a superb modern-day interpretation of a decade-old design. But it's still recognisable as a Macan. The car gets all-around LED lighting. The four-slash slim daytime running lights (DRLs) have been moved to the bumper. The DRL pods are now placed on the raised front fender, like the Porsche 911. It helps in placing the car's nose accurately. On the sides, the curved roofline returns. The black side-blade on the base of the doors allows customization with various materials. The rear end gets a more intended, three-dimensional take on the taillights. There's a lightbar that spells out the Porsche lettering. The roof is raked, and the rear windscreen doesn't get a wiper. But there's a spoiler like the Porsche 911 that lifts open at speed to lend stability. The car runs on huge 20-inch alloy wheels. 

The cabin of the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is spacious. The car gets wonderfully supportive seats. But the 14-way and 18-way adjustable seats that come with lumbar support are optional. Legroom for all seats has noticeably increased in the EV compared to the standard Macan, courtesy of the increased wheelbase. Even six-feet-tall people will easily fit into the rear seat. The headroom is also superb. But unlike most of its rivals, the Macan's rear seats can't be relined to add more legroom. While the air suspension is smooth and absorbs most of the bumps and thuds, it won't give the same well-cushioned ride that a conventional luxury SUV offers.

The 2024 Porsche Macan EV is equipped with dual permanent magnet motors that produce a combined 630PS/1,130PS. The motor is mated to a liquid-cooled lithium-ion, 94.0 kWh battery pack. The car comes with a 11kW onboard charger. The motor has a minimum claimed mileage of 380 miles. The car gets a sharp steering that feels a bit heavy while turning. But the Macan's agility is aided by the rear-axle steering that cut turning radius down to 5.5 metres.  

The 2024 Porsche Macan Electric comes with a number of advanced driver-assist features.  These include automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic warning, all-around parking sensors and adaptive cruise control. A surround-view parking camera system is optional, along with the Porsche InnoDrive, which enhances cruise control with lane-centering steering assist.

At a starting price of AED 318,600, the 2024 Porsche Macan Electric isn't inexpensive. But the Macan has transformed into a high-tech, posh crossover SUV for those who want to make a lifestyle statement. It comes with a plush cabin that offers great traveling comfort.
