Land Rover Range Rover Velar

The cabin of the 2024 Range Rover Velar is a perfect example of luxury and practicality. The full leather interior comes in Cloud, Raven Blue, and Deep Garnet colour options. There's a fabric substitute as well. The wool blend on the door cards and seat uppers is paired with new ultra-fibre polyurethane on the steering wheel and seat bolsters. Trim pieces are available in light or dark anodized aluminium or veneer. The dashboard and central console is fully void of any switchgear. All functions are controlled by the new curved 11.4-inch touchscreen, connected to a Meridian audio system. The cubby holes and the wireless charger are hidden beneath the rich textured wood panel. The touchscreen is a bit fiddly but is the only option to control even basic functions like drive modes and the climate system. There are lots of storage spaces on the doors and the deep central bin. The rear seat gets a central armrest with cupholders.

The styling of the 2024 Range Rover Velar largely remains the same. There's a new grille design and new slim LED pixel lamps that replace the matrix LEDs. The car gets all-around LED lighting. The headlamp washers are now gone. The grille pattern itself is slightly different compared to the pre-update model. It adds a touch of modernity. The fascia gets a clean-swept look and, coupled with the unfussy bodywork, makes the 2024 Range Rover Velar one of the best-looking SUVs. The car looks best from the profile. The bodywork and roof converge to forge a sleek and rich appearance. The back retains the minimal yet modern theme, spruced up with new lighting. There's a new rear bumper and a redrawn diffuser insert that eliminates the exhaust finisher's openings. The car runs on new, colour-matched 20-inch alloy wheels.

There's ample legroom on the 20-way adjustable front seats. All seats on the 2024 Range Rover Velar have great cushioning but aren't theatre-styled like the bigger Range Rovers. Passengers sit lower and that offers great headroom. But the window line feels higher. The panoramic roof extends over the rear seat and makes the cabin feel airy. The cabin is hushed and serene. The rear bench-type seat can accommodate three persons but is more comfortable for two. The air suspension's access mode makes entry and exit easier. The rear seat is soft and supportive. The powered recline function adds to the comfort, and the angle of the recline is well-judged. Taller passengers may want more under-thigh support and legroom. The overall ride quality is still very comfortable.

The 2024 Range Rover Velar's entry-level model is equipped with a turbocharged, four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 246 hp of maximum power. The motor is mated to an eight-speed all-wheel-drive automatic. The powertrain doesn't offer much of an interesting drive. It isn't sporty either, typical of most SUVs. While the steering is on the lighter side, there's a tendency to understeer. But the 2024 Range Rover Velar still manages to make a great impression because of its commanding stance.  

The 2024 Range Rover Velar has a 360-degree camera that eliminates most blind spots. Its all-wheel drive gets a central locking differential. Terrain Response 2 with Wade Sensing is also available. Other standard equipment includes six airbags, hill-descent control, and adaptive cruise control. 

The 2024 Range Rover Velar is among the most expensive cars in its segment. It comes with a decently powerful engine, a classy interior, and offers a comfortable ride. It's a great car for both city commuting and highway cruising.
