World’s smallest road-legal car to be on display at Global Village
Peel Trident, the world’s smallest and road-legal car, is slated to be on permanent display at the 24th season of Global Village in an entirely new public attraction, Ripley’s Believe It or Not. The attraction will be opened for the general public this week. The Trident was also showcased at the 2019 Dubai International Motor Show.
Engineered from 1965-1966 by the Peel Engineering Company, the Trident is one of the two smallest road-legal and assembly-manufactured cars ever produced in the history of automobiles. Both cars have been produced by the same company. The Peel Trident is said to have a top speed of 40 kmph which is courtesy of its 4 hp electric motor. Being the smallest, it is fairly light too, weighs just 80 kg.
To be showcased at Ripley's Believe It or Not edutainment attraction, the Trident has been customised to fit in a 6’6” tall driver having one reverse gear and two forward gears. The Trident can also squeeze in a regulation size elevator. Other oddities of the attraction include a Megalodon shark jaw, world’s only wooden Ferrari replica that can be driven on water, an ancient iron Gibron meteorite and an original Berlin Wall’s piece.
Visitors can participate in a quiz competition to stand a chance to drive the world’s smallest assembly-manufactured car around a dedicated track. Dubai Motor Show also saw such a competition and show-goers were delighted to sit behind the wheel of the Trident. You might also be the next lucky one, so don’t miss to participate. Ask you acquaintance to click pictures while you drive the smallest car around the track for publishing later on social media.
