Volvo V60 Country Crossover to combine features of wagon and SUV

ABU DHABI: Volvo has officially disclosed its V60 Cross Country, a variant that will re-define crossover experience for the riders. The car will help in continuing the company's tradition of stilted station wagons that started with the V70 Cross Country. It will combine the rugged capabilities of SUV with the style of a wagon.

One of the main distinctive features to look for in this car, as compared to the existing model, will be its height. It will be taller than the existing model by 75 mm. The car will initially come in a single option of a 2.0 turbo-diesel mill producing 192 PS of maximum power and 400 Nm of highest torque. We may expect turbocharged and plugin variants to join the clan soon!

So far as the exteriors are concerned, smooth flowy lines replacing the usual sharp creases will bring some variation. The large headlamps along with the wide chromed grille will give it a classier look. The interiors will be minimalistic in design. There will be a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system making the console clutter-free and spacious. It will be involved in multiple functionalities like air-conditioning, navigation as well as media. All-wheel drive and alloy wheels will be Standard here, going with the Cross Country trends.

Apart from an increased ground clearance, it will also have features like Hill Descent Control and Off-Road driving mode. Traction control and stability control provisions will also be there. A host of airbags will offer protection from all sides along with other safety features like the Pilot Assist and Lane Assist. The former will increase the maneuverability, helping the driver to steer, accelerate and apply brakes conveniently as and when required. And the latter will help in preventing collision while changing lanes.

Today buyers often get confused as to which one to choose- wagon or SUV? V60 cross country will help to answer the question. The car will meet all the expectations of the riders starting from easy maneuverability and safety to ergonomics and ruggedness. However, we can't expect it to enjoy riding it soon since it will take some time to hit the UAE markets. The prices are yet to be declared officially.
