UAE to soon get special editions of Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX

ABU DHABI: Rumours of a special edition Land Cruiser have been going around the internet for long. And now all those talks and write-ups seem to get validation, thanks to the leaked images flooding the net. But wait, here's a surprise accompanying the new Land Cruiser variant is an updated Lexus LX as well.

In a few months from now, the UAE market is scheduled to get special edition trims of the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX. Though the leaked images aren’t clear and only show sections of the two cars, we are pretty sure the two carry heavy cosmetic changes. Also, the Land Cruiser special edition along with the Lexus LX new trim is only confirmed for the UAE market. Thus, making us feel a bit special.

The upcoming Land Cruiser special edition is called the Grand Touring, known from the leaked rear image. This Land Cruiser Grand Touring special edition is said to be based on the GXR variant. While carrying the same mechanical tuning, the Cruise Grand Touring trim would feature a revised exterior profile. A new all-chrome grille, tweaked front bumper, fog lamps with chrome garnish, and black-out headlamps now form the part of the package. However, the roof spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, and rear bumper design have been retained from the Land Cruiser GXR variant.

Coming to the upcoming Lexus special edition trim, it is named the LX Black Edition S and as expected, looks super rugged. It is known to be based on the LX Superior that is yet to make it to UAE market. From the leaked images, the Lexus car sports a revised design profile that is now complemented by spindle-like black grille design along with blacked-out fog-lamp cluster, headlamps, and taillamps.

The ongoing Land Cruiser is available in three petrol engine choices - a 4.0-litre mill producing 275 PS, followed by 304 PS churning 4.6-litre V8, and lastly the range-topping 5.7-litre V8 motor developing 362 PS of maximum power. While the first two mills are paired to a six-speed automatic, the bigger powerhouse sends the power to the wheels vis an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Lexus LX is available in a single trim option that gets a 5.7-litre V8 engine. The upcoming special editions are expected to sport one of the engines mentioned above.
