Toyota launches GR Supra 2.0-litre version in Europe
Leading Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota has announced the launch of the GR Supra sports car for the European market. The car will be hauled by an inline-four, turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing 258 bhp power between 5,000-6,500rpm and 400 Nm peak torque between 1,550-4,400 rpm.
Toyota has claimed that the 2.0-litre GR Supra has the same 1.55 ‘golden ratio’ to optimize the handling performance. The car’s wheelbase is of 2,470 mm while the rear and front track widths are 1,589 mm and 1,594 mm respectively. Suspension duties are handled by a MacPherson strut setup in the front, while a five-link unit is fitted at the back.
The GR Supra’s European version comes with 330 mm ventilated disc brakes with rear and front floating calipers as standard equipment. The basic Live version has 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display unit, a four-speaker audio system, and Alcantara black sports seats. The Sport pack has 348 mm front disc brakes with fixed, four-pot calipers in the front. The rear employs 345 mm disc brakes.
The car’s safety suite comprises pre-crash safety with brake function, cyclist and pedestrian detection system, lane-keeping assist with active steering function, intelligent speed assist, and road sign assist. Toyota is also offering the Connect pack which has a satellite navigation system with online connectivity, The Sports pack, on the other hand, has adaptive suspension and an active rear differential.
The GR Supra Premium pack comprises of black leather upholstery, power seating adjustment with memory setting, wireless smartphone charger, a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system, and a head-up display unit. The Premium pack adds to the car’s lighting features and the storage space.
Meanwhile, Toyota will commemorate the arrival of the GR Supra A90 2.0-litre car in Europe with a limited edition Fuji Speedway model. The car will have a metallic white exterior color scheme and matte black, 19-inch alloy wheels with red side mirror housing. The Fuji Speedway version will get a carbon-fiber dashboard trim insert with black and red Alcantara upholstery. Production of the car will be limited to 200 units only for Europe and will come with the Sports and Connect pack options.
Toyota has claimed that the GR Supra has been warmly received in Europe with 1,150 cars being sold by 2019.
