Toyota Land Cruiser Rox Concept debuts with a unique convertible roof setup

ABU DHABI: Toyota is all set to introduce a unique concept at the 2024 SEMA Show, the Land Cruiser Rox, based on the Land Cruiser 250. This concept boasts a convertible roof that allows you to enjoy an open-air driving experience. For added versatility, it comes with a small pickup bed. 

The Land Cruiser Rox blends a stylish, custom design with rugged off-road capability, making it one of the best choices in Toyota’s lineup.

The Land Cruiser Rox concept is entirely based on the Land Cruiser 250 and features more than 50% new design elements. Toyota’s CALTY design studio has created the concept and the "ROX" suffix signifies Recreation Open Experience. In 1973, CALTY was founded and it plays an important role in the global design strategy of Toyota.

The Land Cruiser Rox concept comes with custom "skeleton" doors, a chopped D-pillar, and high-clearance rocker panels for a pickup-style look. The roof has been replaced by a sliding soft top. A triple-bar custom roof rack, reinforced steel bumpers, and sports bar with molle panels provide added protection and utility.

The rugged design of the Rox concept is enhanced by massive tyres mounted and widened fenders on 18-inch machined billet wheels. Additional reinforcements contribute to exceptional structural rigidity for off-road performance.

The Land Cruiser Rox concept has retained the 2.4-litre petrol powertrain with a hybrid setup but comes with TRD independent customized suspension, wider tracks with forged aluminium control arms at the rear and front, and a 4-inch lift kit.

The Land Cruiser Rox’s interior has been finished with Heritage Orange leather beautifully complemented by 3D-printed custom components for better weather resistance. The door panels come with webbing and integrated safety kits for extra storage space.

Toyota has not yet confirmed if the Land Cruiser Rox concept will go into production, but its popularity indicates a potential convertible pickup that is entirely based on the Prado.
