Toyota Land Cruiser - All key things to know
Over the years, the Toyota Land Cruiser has proven itself as a worthy alternative to the sea of European and American SUVs. The king of SUVs from the land of the rising sun might lack the ultra-high-tech futuristic appeal of the European SUVs by an inch, but it is the old school, big and brawny appeal of the Land Cruiser which gives it a unique identity of its own. This is the reason why amidst all the modern SUVs on sale in UAE, the Land Cruiser happens to be the best seller.
There are several reasons contributing to the successful run of the Toyota Land Cruiser in UAE. What are those reasons, you ask? Here you go -
Rich heritage
The Toyota Land Cruiser was born as a spin-off model of the Willys Jeep. The US Army’s order for military vehicles to be employed in the Korean war back in 1951. It is when the Land Cruiser was born for the first time, as a heavily adulterated variant of the Willys Jeep, with Toyota’s own expertise. Born as a 2-door soft-top utilitarian off-roader, the Toyota Land Cruiser, since then, has witnessed almost nine generation models, with the current one being a full-fledged luxury SUV.
It’s as huge as ever
All the comfort-oriented generations of Land Cruisers in the past have one thing in common – they were huge old-school SUVs with massive road presence. The current generation takes that aspect one level up, with the model being the longest, widest, and highest of all the Land Cruisers till date. And it is not only the dimensions which make the Land Cruiser feel big, the design elements such as large and boxy chrome grille, blocky design for headlamps and tail lamps, and large 20-inch wheels all make the Land Cruiser appeal even bigger.
The most modern Land Cruiser till date
And it had to be! The current generation Land Cruiser has got all the right equipment that makes it feel an SUV from current times. On the outside, the Land Cruiser appeals you via LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs, chrome elements on grille, door handles, and boot, and sunroof.
On the inside too, the Land Cruiser specs list shows that it is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera and navigation, 14-speaker sound system, 10.1-inch screens for rear seat entertainment, full leather upholstery with wood grain interior package, push-button start with keyless entry, four-zone climate control, powered front seats and outside rearview mirrors with memory function, ventilated front seats, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering with memory function, floor illumination and wireless charger. While it still lacks the levels of equipment as seen on European SUVs, the Land Cruiser feels rich, premium and well-built to take on all of them in terms of luxury appeal.
Engine options
For the UAE market, Toyota has made the Land Cruiser available with all the engine options offered in the international market. The range-starting engine is a 4.0-litre V6 petrol mill, which produces 274 PS of power and 385 Nm of torque. The mid-spec option is a 4.6-litre V8 petrol mill which generates 307 PS of power and 439 Nm of torque. And the range-topping engine option is a 5.7-litre V8 petrol powerhouse, which belts out 365 PS of power and 530 Nm of torque. While the top-spec 5.7-litre V8 gets an 8-speed automatic transmission, the other two engine options are paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, all the options get a standard full time four wheel drive system.
Safety and electronics
Being a modern and contemporary SUV, the Toyota Land Cruiser is quite rich in technical aspects and electronics. Apart from the electrically adjustable suspension settings and multi-terrain monitor, the Land Cruiser gets a plethora of safety features and electronic riding aids. The list of safety features on the Land Cruiser includes front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, front and rear fog lamps, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, reverse parking camera, Vehicle Stability Control, Crawl Control, Active Traction Control, Hill Start Assist Control, Turn Assist, Multi Terrain Select, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic High Beam, Pre-collision System, Lane Departure Warning and rain sensing wipers.
The Toyota Land Cruiser color card includes ten amazing splashes. The Land Cruiser price starts from a whopping AED 215,900.
