The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible is, fast!

ABU DHABI: Bentley, the British pillar of the Volkswagen empire, has recently unveiled the new Continental GT Convertible. Known for its luxury offerings, Bentley has surprised pretty much everyone with this astonishingly powerful and fast car. And that makes the saying, “do not judge a book by its cover” true. The Bentley Continental GT Convertible might look a chunky luxurious car that can be used for some royal rides. But do not be mistaken, there’s a beast hidden under all that luxurious glory.

Powering the Continental GT Convertible is the same motor which has been used by the manufacturer in the conventional Continental GT. This is a W12 engine which is equipped with cylinder-deactivation. Power figures? Brace yourself, the bad boy under the hood produces a whopping 635 PS of maximum power and an outrageous peak torque of 900 Nm.

Got some freeway? You won’t need much though, as the Continental GT Convertible is capable of reaching 100 kmph from a standstill in no more than 3.8 seconds. Defying all the luxury car perceptions, this beauty can reach up to a top speed of 333 kmph. How was that for a number? A treat for the OCD people.

The soft top of the new Contentinetal GT Convertible, called the Z-top can be raised or folded at speeds of up to 48 kmph, the time taken is claimed to be 19 seconds. Like any other soft top convertible, the noise inside the cabin should be pretty loud, right? But no, the new convertible from Bentley is allegedly 3 decibels quieter than the outgoing model. What you also get are custom made tyres from Pirelli, a 2000-watt Naim stereo system with 18 speakers, neck-warmer, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and a lot more.

The Bentley Continental GT Convertible is set to take on the likes of the convertible variants of Aston Martin DB11, Mercedes S-Class Coupe, and others. With the official pricing not out yet, we expect it to be somewhere near AED 1,650,000.
