Stellantis introduces next-gen STLA large EV platform

ABU DHABI: Stellantis N.V. is all set to transform the future of electric vehicles with the launch of its next-gen STLA Large platform, a BEV-native foundation. It is equipped with high-performance "extreme" powertrains and offers an 800 km range. It is associated with the STLA Medium, which was earlier seen in the Peugeot e-3008 SUV. It is adaptable to hybrid powertrains, is BEV-native, and supports multiple drive configurations. 

The STLA Large platform is tailored for Stellantis' largest vehicles, spanning cars in the E and D segments, SUVs, and crossovers. European factories will modify their operations for local production of STLA Large EVs. Initial models from Jeep and Dodge will be succeeded by Maserati Levante and Alfa Romeo's luxury SUV replacement. By 2026, the platform will target eight production cars showcasing outstanding flexibility and performance for future advancements in drivetrains and battery technology.

The STLA Large platform for Stellantis' EVs integrates e-axles, an electrical system ranging from 400V (that can be upgraded for faster charging to 800V), and a 118kWh battery providing an impressive 800 km range. 

In the next decade, Stellantis is planning to invest over €50 billion keeping up with its commitment to electrification. It aims to achieve 50% passenger car BEV sales in the United States by 2030 and 100% in Europe. Stellantis is also planning to launch 48 BEVs by 2024 and by 2038 it is aiming to become a carbon net zero corporation.

Stellantis has not made any announcement about introducing an STLA-based model to the UAE. We will have to wait to see how Stellantis positions itself in the evolving UAE automotive market with its innovative electric offerings.
