Renault launches new Duster SUV in the Middle East

ABU DHABI: Renault is bringing the new Duster SUV into the Middle Eastern market with quite a lot of changes and a rejuvenated appeal. However, the affordability factor would still be the main essence that the car is known for.

The front fascia of the Renault Duster is refreshed. There is new chrome-garnished grille that has the company’s signature headlamps along with DRLs. The skid plates appear to be bigger than what it used to be on the outgoing model. The hood lid has sharp lines running on it.

On the inside, the new Renault Duster has a host of new features fitted in along with some driving aids, high-quality equipment, and fit and finishes. Hence, looking at the affordable SUV segment, the new version of the Duster ranks pretty high.

Some of the features that are new in the model are Blind Spot Detection, Multi-View camera, Hill Descent Control, a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control.

Moreover, there would be two engine options to choose from, one a 1.6-litre 2WD and the other would be a bigger 2.0-litre motor with a 4x4 drivetrain. The bigger engine would be the same in-line four-cylinder motor which can make a maximum power of 135 PS at 5,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 195 NM which comes at 4,000 rpm. The power transmission would be done by an automatic transmission gearbox in both.

Having said that, Renault has different dates for the launch of the Duster in different parts of the Middle East. Presently, the SUV would be on sale in just Egypt and Lebanon. Jordon will be getting the launch in August while in GCC, it will be launched in September. However, if you are in Iraq, you will have to wait until the end of 2018 to get a hand over it.

The Duster is one of the most popular cars in the company’s international line up and has sold around 2.5 million units since its debut back in 2010.
