Porsche finally unveiled the Cayenne Coupe
ABU DHABI: It was nearly three years back when Porsche first teased us with the Cayenne Coupe, and now the car finally sees the light of the day. It will be the next car from the Volkswagen Group to join the sleeker-roof SUV range that already comprises of the Lamborghini Urus and Audi A8.
On the car’s distinctive roofline, Michael Mauer, Vice President, Style Porsche said, “The significantly more steep roofline that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupé appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment.”
When compared to the E3 Cayenne, the new coupe displays a 20 mm lower roofline which is further responsible for changes like 18 mm broader fenders and redesigned rear doors. Another notable feature on the exterior is the adaptive roof spoiler that’s a part of the Porsche Active Aerodynamic kit. It extends to 135 mm at 90 kmph for increased downforce. Speaking of the roof, as it can be seen in the image, the Cayenne Coupe features a panoramic fixed roof in glass or carbon-fibre. The glass option will come integrated with a roller blind that’ll offer shade.
On the inside, things look sporty and plush, justas expected. The rear row gets two individual seats as standard. Also, the occupants are seated 30 mm lower (compared to the full-size Cayenne), thus, offering plenty of headroom despite the sporty and lowered silhouette. As for the onboard features, the car gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, three-chamber air suspension, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control electric roll stabilisation, rear-axel steering, Porsche 4D Chassis Control. Furthermore, the coupe will run on 20-inch alloy wheels and get driving aids like Park Assist at both ends, Porsche Active Suspension Management, reverse camera, and Sport Chrono.
On the storage front, the car offers a luggage capacity of 625-litre with all seats up. It increases to 1540-litre with the rear seat folded. On the other hand, it's 770-litres for the full-size Cayenne.
When launched, the Porsche Cayenne Coupe will come with two engine options - a 3.0-litre V6 turbo mill churning 340 PS and 450 Nm and a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo generating 550 PS and 770 Nm. As for the performance figures, the base trim will cover 0 to 100 kmph run in 6 seconds with a top speed of 243 kmph. The twin-turbo variant, on the other hand, will hit the 100 kmph mark in 3.9 seconds and have a top speed of 286 kmph.
Built on the MLB Evo platform, the Cayenne Coupe is expected to include more trims in the future. A hybrid option is also likely to follow soon.
