Over 2,500 Mercedes-Benz SUVs recalled over transmission issues in the UAE
ABU DHABI: Safety concerns have led to the recall of over 2,500 units of Mercedes-Benz SUVs. This announcement has been made by the local importers of the esteemed German luxury carmaker. This recall initiative aims to thoroughly check the transmission's downshift operation.

This proactive step underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to prioritising the customer satisfaction and well-being of customers in the region.
The affected models include the 2019–2023 GLE and GLS equipped with the NAG3 automatic transmission and M256 engine. Gargash Enterprises, an authorized importer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Northern Emirates, specified this information, along with the brand’s authorised importer in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.
Mercedes-Benz AG has identified issues with the transmission control unit’s software in certain GLS and GLE vehicles, especially those based on the 167 platforms. As per the findings, the software may fail to meet the required specifications.
As per the authorised local importers 2,521 vehicles have been impacted by the recall campaign. The specific vehicle identification numbers of these vehicles range from 167 A001707 to A998465 and 167 8001073 to B005639.
The recall is being carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Economy’s Consumer Protection and Commercial Control Department. This collaborative effort underscores consumer safety. By closely working with regulatory authorities, the automaker aims to comply with stringent quality regulations and standards.
