Open auction for EXPO 2020 branded number plates in Dubai
Ahead of next year’s Expo 2020 exhibition in Dubai, the 102nd open auction is going to be organized by the Road and Transport Authority and for the first time, the number plates with the Dubai Expo 2020 logo printed on them will be auctioned off.
As announced on Friday, the auction will be conducted on September 28, Saturday and the registration starts from September 22. The bidding set for the auction is scheduled to start at 4.30 pm on Saturday at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel.
Through a series of tweets, the RTA declared that 100 exclusive car registration plates encompassing two, three, four and five-digits will be offered in the auction. Plates on offer will have the letters from H to Z except for J and Y.
Out of 100, 20 plates will be specially coded to celebrate the upcoming Expo in Dubai, which opens on October 20 next year.
Those who are interested in the bidding can register themselves for the auction in either of the two ways- online or offline. Online registration can be done on www.rta.ae and for offline registration, a person can visit any of the RTA’s Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Al Ramool, Deira or Barsha.
Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency stated, “T50, which is part of an exciting collection of plates on offer, is expected to attract massive attention from number plate enthusiasts.”
Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau said, “The plate numbers that will carry the Expo logo were chosen to help spread awareness about the world’s greatest show.”
Bidders have to deposit the security cheque of DH25,000 addressed to the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai and also need to pay a participation fee of DH120 through the Dubai Drive App or customer happiness centres or www.rta.ae. The participation fee of the open auction is non-refundable. And for more details, one can call on 800 9090.
