Next generation Jeep Renegade in the works
ABU DHABI: The Jeep Renegade is one of the toughest off-road SUVs on a global arena. However, with the competition in the segment getting higher each passing year, the American company is looking to make the Renegade more in-line with the latest technology and thus, very contemporary.
With this notion in mind, the Renegade is up for an upgrade and Jeep has already started working on it. However, it would be making its international debut not before 2022. The current generation of the SUV was launched in 2014 and a much-needed facelifted was given just a few months back.
The Jeep Renegade is based on the same 4X4 Small Wide platform from FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) that underpins many other models like the Fiat 500X, Toro pickup, and the Jeep Compass. The next generation model will also be built on the current platform and hence, will be having similar dimensions. However, despite this, the boot space will be more than what is presently offered due to a better interior setting.
Further, it will continue to be slotted below the Compass SUV in the international market, though there would be a model placed below it as well. However, the company still has no word on its availability in the local market. So, we can expect the updated version to enter the market by 2022.
