Mitsubishi Pajero recalled in the UAE over airbag defect
ABU DHABI: As per the recent reports, the Al Habtoor Motors - official distributor of Mitsubishi in the UAE has recalled Pajero cars in the country. It is not the first time that they are doing so, as in the past when required, specific Mitsubishi vehicles were called back for check-up and defect correction.
This time around, the dealership has issued a mandate recalling more than 50,000 Pajero cars, and the reason stated is an 'airbag defect'. However, the instructions are not coming directly from the dealer but are instead initiated by the Ministry of Economy. The order stated to retrieve Mitsubishi Pajero V90W and V80W models manufactured during January 2013 and December 2017.
To be precise, a total of 53,918 Pajero falls under the category of cars carrying the defected airbag. Under a statement issued Al Habtoor Motors the airbag problem has been explained in detail. Here, quoting the reason mentioned in the apology statement, “Due to usage condition, the changes of temperature and longtime humidity, the propellant (ammonium nitrate) in the inflator for passenger side frontal airbag may be deteriorated and, as a result, the inflator body may rupture at the time of airbag deployment. Therefore the frontal airbag inflator for passenger side has to be changed.’
Customers whose cars fall under the defected airbag lot can bring their vehicle for repair at the Al Habtoor Motors. The said dealership remains open from 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday to Thursday. In case of any query or confusion, customers can contact the dealership via mail or visit crm@habtoormotors.com for more information.
