Mexico gets ‘Xtreme Trail-Rated’ Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Fiat Chrysler has announced the launch of a new special edition Jeep Wrangler which will be sold in the Mexican market only. The full-sized, off-road sports utility vehicle (SUV) will be called the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated. The car will benefit from several modifications with production being limited to just 100 units.
The Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated will be equipped with steel-made rear and front bumpers. The oversized, outer corners of the bumpers can be detached to improve the car’s angle of attack. The front bumper also has two large tow hooks while the Trail Rated apparatus comes as part of standard equipment and includes D-rings, a carabiner, strap, gloves, and a safety kit. That aside, the car is fitted with a distinct-looking hood with subtle power dome along with functional vents.
With off-road driving in mind, Jeep has added the Rock-Track all-wheel drive system to the 2020 Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated. It comprises Dana 44 rear and front axles along with Tru-Lock electronic differentials.
The cabin of the new limited-edition Wrangler Rubicon is not much different from the standard version. The equipment is pretty basic and includes red accents, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a small instrument cluster.
The Wrangler Xtreme-Trail Rated retains the Jeep structural design. The Jeep badges on the body are immediately recognizable. The SUV’s exterior has a low waistline and a wide appearance. The size of the windows has been increased from the car’s standard version. The seven-slat grille has a more updated look and intersects with the headlight. The daytime running lights (DRLs) form a halo around the outside boundary of the headlight units. The front directional lights are placed on the dashboard. The traditional square lights at the back are LED units.
The 2020 Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated will be hauled by Fiat Chrysler’s Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 motor which produces 285 bhp and 379 Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system. The SUV will be available only in the Solar Yellow color scheme.
The 2020 Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated is expected to command a price of around Mex$998,000, equivalent to $53,285 in the US.
