Meet the 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift, gets impressive style updates
ABU DHABI: Hyundai Elantra was launched in the UAE back in 2016, post that we didn’t hear anything from this sedan. We didn’t even receive the new model that recently got a mid-cycle facelift. Though we are uncertain about the new Elantra’s arrival in the country, it’s always good to know what's in stock. Now, usually, a facelift that too early model’s life mostly comprises of a few styling tweaks, nothing extreme to be noted. However, the case is exactly opposite with the 2019 Elantra facelift.
If we have to sum up the all-new Elantra’s look in a word, it would be triangular. Take a look at the pictures, and you’ll know what we mean. Starting from the headlights they now feature an upswept look, are larger than before, and yes, of course, feature a triangular design. Move your eyes slightly below to see the angular fog lamps that from a distance looks like small crystals and are cased in a three-sided polygon. The Y-shaped grille is borrowed from the new Kona and Santa Fe.
The rear too holds some dramatic changes to impress. What first comes to notice is the new trunk lid design that now looks premium. Also, the taillights get a new sharper and updated design with the inverted letter L design. The rear bumper has been molded to match the overall car aesthetics and holds a place for the license plate. Adding a little bit more flair to the setup in the integrated diffuser.
The side profile has mainly remained untouched with only a new set of wheels forming a part of the 2019 facelift.
The cabin is no less than the exterior in terms of the premium appeal. The 2019 Elantra gets a new centre console with re-arranged buttons, a smarter tunnel that now houses the gearbox surrounded by chrome detailing. The information biracial also received a new, sporty look. Other areas to undergo an overhaul are the air-conditioning vents and steering wheel.
Hyundai is still to announce the new engine configuration, however, for the US market three options are confirmed. Starting with a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that produces 128 PS, further, there is an option for 1.6- and 2.0-litre engine. As for the gearbox setup, it includes three options - 6 M/T, 6 A/T, and 7-speed dual clutch.
