Land Rover set to release “Defender Octa” later this year

ABU DHABI: Land Rover is all set to introduce the flagship Defender Octa. For unmatched power, it has been outfitted with an electrified twin-turbocharged V-8. It also comes with an enhanced suspension system for exceptional off-road capabilities, marking an upgrade for the 4x4 line.

The Defender Octa comes with 6D Dynamics hydraulic interlinked air suspension ensuring a comfortable and smooth ride experience. The suspension helps the Octa maintain stability during different types of driving scenarios. Additionally, it is equipped with Brembo brakes for enough stopping power and control on the road.

JLR has confirmed that the new Defender model will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged V8, likely the BMW-sourced 4.4-litre engine that is utilized in Range Rover models, producing around 618 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The Octa will take 3.8 seconds to propel from 0 to 100 kmph.

The Defender Octa distinguishes itself from other variants all thanks to the diamond-inspired badges that are present both inside and out. The exterior badge shows a glossy-black diamond on a sandblasted and machined titanium disc, while on the inside, a red illuminated diamond badge adorns the steering wheel’s base.

Land Rover is planning to unveil the Defender Octa by the end of this year and urges interested buyers to contact their Defender retailer for early access. JLR rebranded nearly a year ago, launching a new badge and transitioning its name. This signifies a huge shift toward establishing distinct brands for Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery with models like the Octa all set to redefine the Defender brand.
