Jeep Wrangler JL has its first special edition model in the form of Moab

ABU DHABI: Here is the first special edition of the Jeep Wrangler JL, a further beefed up version of the standard. What's interesting here is that it is named “Moab” taking inspiration from the Moab Lake of Utah, a place where the yearly Easter Jeep Safari takes place. It is based on the Sahara model with a plethora of additions both inside and out.

Aesthetically, the Jeep Wrangler Moab is given the steel bumper, hood and LED headlights and tail lamps from the Rubicon version. It is distinctly different from any standard Wrangler with the blacked-out (low-glossy) headlights' cluster, tow hook and grille throat. It rides on the 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels from the Rubicon and has grippy mud-terrain tyres of 32-inch. Available color options are Punk'n Metallic, Billet Silver, Bright White, Black, Granite Crystal, Firecracker Red, Sting Gray, Ocean Blue, and Mojito.

Inside the cabin of this 2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab, the company has added a lot of sophisticated bits like the leather covers on the dashboard and seats that have contrasting stitches. The infotainment system has an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with Uconnect and navigation, along with nine speakers sourced from Alpine.

Jeep has even worked on the safety system of the Wrangler Moab special edition, besides just doing the exterior and interior. The car has rear-cross traffic alert system, blind-spot monitoring and ParkSense rear assist with parking camera. All of these are available on the 4x4 variant.

For the UAE market, Jeep offers the 2018 Wrangler with a 3.6-litre V6-cylinder engine with a 4WD drivetrain. The engine is capable of putting out 285 PS of maximum power and 352 Nm of highest torque. The power is sent down to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox unit.

The Sahara version of the Wrangler has a starting price of AED 168,000 while the Rubicon starts from AED 195,000 onwards.
