Jeep Gladiator pickup truck photos popped up online

ABU DHABI: It is not a breaking news that Jeep is set to welcome the pickup variant of the Wrangler soon. The spy shots and renderings for the same have been in circulation for quite a long time now. The Jeep Wrangler pickup truck will debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show later this November. However, thanks to the leaked images surfacing the internet, we do not have to wait longer to get a clear picture of how the Wrangler-based pick-up truck would look like.

A forum shared five press photos of the new Wrangler-based Jeep pickup. The user who shared this post online claim to have taken these directly from the FCA media website before the images were deleted. It is further claimed that the new Jeep pickup will be known as the Gladiator and not the Scrambler. As the name ‘Jeep Scrambler Forum’ has been changed to ‘Jeep Gladiator Forum’.

As per the user who posted these images, also claims to have got a glimpse of the specification sheet and shared the information online as well. Assuming the information shared is correct, the Jeep Gladiator will arrive packed with a 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel V6 or a 3.6-litre gas V6 engine. Buyers are free to choose between a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic gearbox in case they opt for the petrol variant. The diesel powertrain cannot be availed with the manual option. It is being said that the diesel version will come rated at 1,000 kg payload.

Up front, the upcoming Wrangler-based pickup truck looks almost same as the Wrangler. The front portion of the vehicle portrays the signature Jeep styling with features like round headlamps, seven-slat grille, and boxy and upright design. The rear portion, however, seems to have received unique styling with a longer wheelbase, a new pair of taillights along with the tailgate flaunting Jeep name boldly. Other notable features include Dana 44 axles, a limited-slip differential, electronically disconnecting sway bars, 33-inch wading capacity, etc.

Jeep has not commented anything to authenticate the information provided yet. 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show will reveal the facts.
