Isuzu Thailand drops teaser for new Mu-X

ABU DHABI: Isuzu Thailand has released a teaser of the upcoming facelifted Mu-X SUV that shares its foundation with the D-Max ute. The significant changes anticipated include a revamped grille and new LED headlights, promising a more substantial update. 

Although specific details have not been disclosed, it is expected that the Mu-X facelift will retain its existing powertrain options: the 3.0-litre DDI 4JJ3-TCX generating 140kW/450Nm and the 1.9-litre RZ4E-TC producing 110 kW/350 Nm. The 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine with mild-hybrid assistance is likely to arrive next year. As for transmission, the six-speed automatic is standard.

The teasers of the new Isuzu Mu-X hint at various updates, including slimmer LED headlights, and a new trim level named RS, which possibly suggests an off-road version similar to the Ford Everest Wildtrak. The details have not been revealed, but it's anticipated that the RS model could come with features such as Rough Terrain mode from the updated D-Max. 

Following its bakkie sibling, the Mu-X's interior update on lower-end models may include a new seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Other upgrades include nine and seven-inch touchscreen infotainment systems, revised upgraded materials, and wireless Apple CarPlay. 

The new Mu-X is also expected to come with advanced driver-assistive technologies such as autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, with safety features including lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring. Other highlights may include rear-cross traffic alert and pedal misapplication mitigation.
